Does anyone have any experience how much the AUD/NZD moves on this release compared to the NZD/USD? thnx

i believe it moves a bit more just like euro/cad moves a bit more than usd/cad. Of coarse u also have higher spreads on the exotics so unless the deviation is big u could easily get screwed on a straddle.

Also does anyone have the employment change for this release, not the unemployment rate but the employment change?
I looked on the NZD website and its pretty confusing

mmmm, just had a look and my broker is at 12 pip spread for the AUD/NZD. No telling what it could rise to just before the news though....

I remember reading a post by MoneyMaster on the difference between the 2 pairs at news, but can't find it now Maybe I'll just stick to NZD/USD this time and just watch the other...

I looked on the NZD website and its pretty confusing
daily PA in nzd/usd and nzd/jpy gave me signal to go long regardless of the news. a good daily j16 setups

Good memory Princess,

Aud/Nzd (normal spread ranges from 7 to 12 pips depending on broker) moved about 40 pips today, with a small whipsaw 2 minutes in advance of announcement. Great example as to why you enter news straddles as late as possible. See attached.

Also note the Aud employment report later tonight.

You must be using a broker that doesnt widen the spread since NZD/USD jumped 20 pips on news and you captured 12 pips before it retraced?

That's why I prefer Eur/Aud. Smooth as butta. Despite the 9-12 pip spread, the pair covers due to its movement. Today both NZD and AUD unemployment reports moved Eur/Aud directly to TP. See attached.

I just got +10 pips in the aud/usd

I have traded the aud/nzd before. I guess I need to check that out a little bit again

I also like the eur/cad when trading cad news. It has worked out pretty good for me.

Don't take my word for it; look at the chart provided....thinking outside the box presupposes you're already self-contained.

This is indeed true.

Paying more on the "spread" have its merits. Just like trading GBPUSD instead of EURUSD on US news.

I should perhaps look/trade more on these exotic pairs - a clean 5-10 pips profit off of a higher spread pair is less strain vs NZDUSD or AUDUSD when the spikes are limited to just 20~25.

GBPNZD costs a whopping 35 pips with my broker but it moved 100+ pips.
GBPAUD costs 12 pips spread but moved 85 pips enough to bag 50 pips.

EURAUD, GBPAUD costs $0.78 per pip (the value of AUDUSD)
EURNZD, GBPNZD costs $0.69 per pip (the value of NZDUSD)

That's precisely the idea: "just like trading GBPUSD instead of EURUSD on US news".

Thanks BK for the headsup on the pairs you shared. I can add the GBP exotics next time; certainly helps to scale lots across the board.
