Honest answers please! Are you successful trading on Forex or not?

I have never understood this 90%+ failure thing. Even if every trader uses no system and just places random trades with equal stop loss and take profit then shouldn't this average be around 50%? OK, if you deduct spread/interest, then yeah I can understand why let's say 55% of traders fail. This leads to the question as to why 90%+ are failing. It is about money management, greed, fear, psychology, calculated risk:reward ratio, leverage, planning, etc... You can read about all these qualities over any forex forum where they have been discussed to death, so you know what you're supposed to be doing. All you need is a system that gives you a slight advantage, and then combine it with ALL of these qualities. If you're lacking in just one of these qualities then you won't be succeeding at trading anything, let alone FX. You can give a great system to a trader with no self restraint, and watch with glee as they quickly lose their money with it. Conversely you can give an average system to someone who has the necessary self discipline and they will slowly make money on a consistant basis.

Here's a useful analogy. Let's say you wake up one morning and find your car battery is flat, do you scratch your head and think why? After all, you checked/ replaced the tyres, changed the oil and filters, filled up the fuel, vaccuumed the carpet, etc... and did everything except check the battery. Let's take it further. Do you then swap the car for another one, because your lack of maintenance caused it to stop working? Do you change your trading system because it stops working, or did you really change it because YOU stopped working? Sorry but trading is just like a car, you MUST religiously maintain all areas if you want it to be running well.

If 90% of traders are failing, then why haven't all the banks died yet? In trading there are a lot of pitfalls that one needs to be aware of, but if you can avoid, or at least minimize the effects of ALL of them, then money will come, slowly but surely.

I'd say a large proportion of the traders who are failing do so because of greed. You know the type, once the money is on the table, their eyes light up and they can't help but shoot themself in the foot by losing discipline in an important area. FX, by it's very nature attracts people with this mindset, and subsequently relieves them of their account. Whoops!! There goes another few grand, hope it was a demo. It's about self control and a manual system, no robots. Almost all EA's (particularly free ones) are typically lacking in at least one area which is required.

Just my thoughts anyway, and I make a steady profit over the last few years using nothing more than TA and good discipline.

It honestly took you 2 whole years to discover FF? You said you've visited numerous webstes and joined different forums... my point is, ForexFactory is by far the biggest of them all, so I'm very surprised you'd not come across this earlier.
