Has anyone noticed that the charts on oanda lags the Current Price in the trades tab, and that lags the ticket order price that you actually submit your trade on. I've noticed this can lag as much as 2 pips at one stage! It's a bit difficult to scalp this way. Anyone think they're doing this on purpose?

Yes and all of that sometimes lags other brokers. I've had my Oanda's live feed lag my IBFX demo feed, lol. Altho they are getting better at that.

It's difficult to scalp on minute to minute time frames that way, yes, but then again you really need an ECN for that anyway. Are they doing it on purpose? Probably, probably to prevent feed scalpers.

Use a limit order to get in on a particular price.

Hmmm, I'm using 5 second charts as I'm trying a new strategy and it's not helping me at all. I'm beginning to think that slow and steady really does win the race when it comes to these brokers.

Rabid, I don't think dimitrius is refering to price feed lag, which Oanda was well known for. In fact, Oanda seems to have fixed that issue in recent days, but since then I have noticed the same kind of new lag that dimitrius has mentioned. Once price has exceeded the price of my limit orders, it takes several seconds or several pips for the order to show as being executed. This may be intentional to discourage scalpers, and if so, it just may work. Seconds count when scalping, and losing several seconds to delay can be the difference between making money and losing money.

Nod, but they do still have some problems with price feed lag during bursts of volatility. What they did was add some delays in the process to make it impossible to take advantage of the old feed delay while discouraging scalpers.

I notice price going beyond my limit orders all the time, but usually only by 1 or 2 pips. Also happens on stop losses too. Isn't enough to matter w/ my approach tho.

I experienced the delay again this morning. I had a limit buy order at 1.5580. I always start a timer when I see the order appearing as filled in the "Trades" window. The time it took for the order to appear till the time I closed the trade was around 4 seconds. In the Oanda's Transaction History it recorded the trade as being 9 seconds. That's a 5 second delay. I still made money on this trade, but prior to these delays, my average trade time was 6 seconds, with most winning trades being under 5. I don't exploit price feed delay since I use limit orders. I hope this only a bug in the latest platform update, and not a new method of Oanda's to discourage scalping.

oanda is known for most of these problems, i woulnd't trade with them.

Oanda is probably the worst broker around, as soon you start to make money their platform will start to drive you nutz and desconcentrate you till you become unprofitable again. I'm leaving Oanda and I will NEVER go back there.

oanda suck big time, price lags, disconection problems, major platform issue's, i see more threads about oanda platfrom problems then any other broker, even on there own forum

I have also experienced this situation where it takes several seconds for an order to show as being executed, and this started happening after the last update/Fix on FXtrade a few days ago. However, this delay seems to be just a "visual" problem. Even when it takes a few extra seconds for orders to show as executed, You can see that the orders are still being executed at the right price/time if you go to full transaction history.

This has been my experience exactly. The problem for me is that I exit after a few pips profit, and I will be sitting there watching price move past my limit order but I can't exit because the platform doesn't recognize it as being executed. When I check the transaction history I do see where the order was executed at the proper time, even though it didn't show it in real time.

Yes, that's a real problem if You hold your trades for just a few seconds. My average trade time is something like 6 minutes so this little "delay" is not really a problem for me. But I'm having a hard time with the quote panel refreshing rate being much higher than before. I occasionally enter with market orders, and when using a tight stop it's hard to calculate the correct position size to use when price is changing two or three times per second.

I use the Oanda charts 5sec tf as well, and know there has always been a bit of a lag, usually abt 1sec in price movement.

But over the last 1-1.5 weeks, the prob seems to have become so bad, that there could be a lag of almost 20sec on the charts. This is even during normal market conditions. I have no idea why this is happening, as overall, Oanda is a really good broker.

Just thought would share this, to let you know there are others having the same prob.

there are another reliable brokers with small spreads? MM, not ECN wich requirements to open account are 50k.
