it's still a +10% return for the 4 weeks of trading, 10% a month is not bad in my view.

True. Not bad at all. But it is sauer to start with 3000, see it grow to almost 5000 this week and now a DD to end on 3500. That is a 1500 dd on 5000, that is a high %.
And of course the question is how much trial is enough? Far more interesting is it how to avoid such bigs ddowns in future. I hope 101 improves the EA as he stated already some postings before.

I am battling this terrible flu, for about 2 days now and coupled with the losses we have, made a real terrible week for my trading. But there is always another week. My apologies for not posting a while.

It could actually happend..I believe with Pipruler..Sometimes, depending on your EA start and stop. Unaware, I notice that the program stop and start. I don’t know the reason perhaps the platform itself or maybe the connection to your broker server but the program actually changes from ready to trade to not ready to trade and waiting for trend changing. I have inserted a function that will determine if your EA is in ready to trade mode or waiting for the next trend. A digit of 0 or 1 will appear below the word “BASKET”. If it is 0(zero) then the program is not ready to trade. Trend or no trend it will not trade. If the digit below is 1 (one) then it is ready and waiting to trade. While you are in a trade of a certain ccy that digit should remain 1. If some reason that number changes to 0 then something happened to your EA. It was stop by some unknown factor. This is the one I have observed. On the Ver.4, this digit will be displayed all the time. If you are trading, the digit should be 1, if it turns to 0, your trade will still continue but you lost the continuation should you hit the TP. And you have to wait again the digit to change to 1. This happened when you close the platform, you lost the internet connection, you redrag the program, you change some input and some unknown reason.

ON this regard therefore, I will issue for 2 weeks (up to 30 May)the demo ver. 4. The ver4 is one bar faster than the version 3 also, it closes the losing trade quicker this Saturday. However this will not be posted but you have to E-mail me before Saturday (12:00Noon NY) if you want to have this copy. Please do not distribute the copy if I send you one. If somebody ask you tell them to E-mail me. If you are using a 5 digit quote or using an m version, mentioned this in your E-mail and make your E-mail short and concise. You will have the copy before the market open Sunday (18 May).

My opinion is not to quite on the progress and development of the EA. I don't think any one did have nor developed an EA in few months. I think they keep tweaking and improving and adding to the EA every time they face something new
maybe you can try to add this indicator. flat detectorit might help.

This seems to be at least an indication of the condition of the EA. But the question is, what to do with it. Let's assume it shows the zero, what can I do than? I only know that the EA isn't in a healthy condition.

Would it be possible to write these in a log-file? Than we would be able to analyze the EA-behavior and correlate it to certain trading situations.

Here are my FXDD demo results:

EAs effected on 20th 6 pm EDT. Ult, Del & Best run separately on 3 FXDD demo accounts, 1:200, $10,000 starting Balance/Equity each.

15 pairs: GU, GJ, UJ, AJ, EJ, EU, Uchf, UC, EC, EG, CJ, AU, NU, Echf, Gchf. Hourly charts.

First week result:
5th day: @ 3:30-3:40 pm EDT 25th April:
- Ult: Balance: $10,433, Equity: $10,433 Margin: $0
- Del: 10,520 10,520 0
- Best: 9,305 9,305 0

#5th day ... all trades closed @3:30-3:40 pm for weekend per T101's suggested Option 2. EAs removed... On Sunday April 27 EAs attached and effected before 6 pm EDT, FXDD's market open time. #


Second week result:
10th day: @ 11 am EDT 2nd May:
- Ult: $10,671 $10,671 $0
- Del: 10,595 10,595 0
- Best: 9,335 9,335 0

Ultimate/Delight equity once hit around $10,950 at around 10 am. When to close by observation is not easy. Would be nice if EA had an option to bank certain $$$ or % of equity and after suspension start b4 Asian session, so that we can accumulate the gains.

Third week result:
15th day: @ 4 pm EDT 9th May:
- Ult: $10,870 $10,890 $712
- Del: 10,886 10,914 662
- Best: 9,846 9,729 593

Fourth week result:
20th day: @ 7 am EDT 16th May:
- Ult: $9,804 $9,804 $0
- Del: 9,355 9,355 0
- Best: 9,359 9,359 0

This concludes the report. Hope market will be kind to EA next week on.

What if it continues to make good gains for the next 2 weeks then have a bad week afterwards? Even if it performs good for a whole year there are no guarantees that it will always be good.

I agree that this weeks draw-down is a cause for great concern for everyone here but just like life there are no guarantees. We will have to judge the EA with the data that we have (there's plenty on this thread) and how it performs moving forward. The choice on what EA or trading strategy you will use for live trading is based on 50% the results of your paper trading and 50% faith that the EA will work in most market conditions.
Yes you are right in that point that we will never have a guarantee that the a system performs under all conditions in a satisfying way.
But the longer the testing period the more market behavior is experienced, the more we know how the EA behaves. Four weeks is actually nothing, just about 8% of one year.
Even without this last drawdown it would be very risky to put all your trust in any system with this limited experience. So in general the longer the test period and the more experience we have the better.
Than we could statistically show the worst case scenarios, how the EA acts in certain market situations, during news times, etc.
We even could determine the best time/day to start/stop the EA.
For a good analysis we need data, data and again data.

Let's assume we stop the trial period today or next week, how to continue than?? Are you planning to go commercial with these results?
Or are we just going to stop this thread? Which would be a pitty and a waste of all the good work many (and especially trader101) put into this.
So let's try to make the best out of it and than go commercial but with confident.

The reason why I want to put this indication for the user to be aware that it is not good that you keep turning off and on the program. I notice this because all that connect me thru the MSN messenger, I’ve notice if they are online or offline. I got the notification of the online status, and I notice they come and go. What happened to the trade was it run off or on. That notification will make them thinking that you are not suppose to disturb the EA. Yes.. EA is design to do the trading for us, and I intend to do that. Not that when the user after the frustration that the TP was not hit start changing the TP and not knowing that the whole data collected was lost. And the EA has to start again. If the comment is “Waiting or 0” that is the condition of the EA and there is nothing we can do. It lost the data not the fault of the EA. I myself is also guilty of this. Even worst because I have the luxury of seeing and the ability of changing the whole code. Ea should really limit the intervention of user and let it runs itself. User have emotions and lots of it, this really come into play. I cannot afford to put all the options open to be change by the user. Options that are crucial to the proper function of the EA should not be optional to the user. IMHO

Logs are automatically written by MT4 for the EA. Look in MetaTrader 4\experts\logs\

Hello,
I started the EA (delight) shortly after open (7 hours ago) but all pairs show the WAITING message. According to trader101 this indicates that the EA is waiting for a trend.
I can not imagine that it takes so long and that for all pairs. Have the feeling that the new version is not working.
Does someone has the same experience or is the EA running (trading).

I am experiencing the same thing. It looks like only EURJPY and USDCAD are the only ones that says "READY" while the rest are in "WAITING" I'm currently using IBFX-mini.

Many keep asking why the EAv4 still not trading after almost 8 hours now. Is the EA working or not? Most are getting anxious..huh.. The EA is working perfectly well. OK add this indicator to your chart. The parabolic sar
Step 0.01 Max 0.1. Now if this psar is in the same location when you attached the EA. Then it is still waiting for the PSAr to transfer to the other side to start trading. It is very slow that is the reason you have to be patient with the market. Now keep that psar on your chart so you know why.

Its 1:47 am here in NY.. Some E-mails awaken me. Not one .. plenty..My E-mail is attached to my Cellphone and it keeps ringing. I thought i won a million dollar...LOL.. Just kidding you guys...Let me sleep first. OK I have only one trade in IBFX that is the EurJpy, other platform ..no. nada ..just see the psar it did not even moved. Ill see you guys in the morning...
