I've ran acroos a thread talking about Toby Crabel's Day Trading with Short-term Price Patterns. It sells from anywhere between $600 and $2000 on the web. Has anyone read this book? What kind of information does it offer? Finally, does anybody own a copy?

Never heard of it, but I'm seeing it available on the eDonkey P2P network.

The reviews on Amazon give a bit of detail regarding the content of the book, but I imagine you've read those already.

So it's rare but is it that good? What's the laws on taking a used book and pasting it onto the inernet for free?

$95.00 is a little more reasonable but how many damn patterns could he show you that isn't widely known?

If it's still protected under U.S. copyright law (which this book probably is), reproduction or distribution without consent is illegal. It will be perfectly legal 50 years after this Crabel guy dies though.

I think people pay so much for this because of the "star" status of the author rather than because of the content. Although the book does look rather interesting when you first look at the price.

$1000 for a book! ROFL! and you really need to ask if it is worth it! how many patterns you gona learn, stick around on factory forex you will learn
to trade and make money for free


i think to many people are trying to get rich quick by lording it on the
back of traders, I have one rule anything i buy must represent a greater
value than the purchase price if it does not, ask for aq discount or dont buy it.

Dude, I'd never consider buying this book. Im only curious as to whats in it that makes it so expensive.

There was a thread in the elitetrader forums and someone wrote a code for tradestation on the opening range breakout. Can anybody convert it into MT4?

"Candlestick Course" by Nison is a good investment - I got it on amazon marketplace for $30.

It doesn't leave my desk. Good reviews of it on amazon too

I bought this book about 15 years ago.

Paid around 89 to 99 dollars for it...unfortunately, I don't have it anymore(a shame since its value seems to have gone up quite a bit!)

Unless it has been updated recently, I think the information may not be too helpful as it contains a lot statistics...Does anyone know if this author has updated this book or has written anything else on this subject?

From what i've read, the book hasn't been updated since you got it 15 years ago.

why else would you buy a book? the only trading books i read are the ones written by authors who made it big trading. why should i listen to an author who hasnt proven he knows what he is talking about? there are a million of these phony authors, and reading their books can actually hurt your trading.

theres an exception when it comes to the math stuff. there are a few highly skilled authors who write valuable books about money management and risk, without ever actaully making big money themselves. i chalk this up as the nature of the quant.

btw, it's not a coincidence that the most expensive books are the ones written by the "stars". these guys arent so interested in the money they make from publication and usually print in limited quantities. ed thorp is a good example, ive spent thousands on his collection of books, i think i paid $500 for "Beat the Market" alone.
