Difficult one to call as we had a doji bar (indecision) today on UJ - price has failed at 121.75/80 two days running so the more sensible trade to take is the short with a lower risk.

Yup, only hesitation is the weak yen but it can't go on forever without at least a retrace. Risk is low with a tight initial s/l in the grand scheme of things so let's see if it survives the asian session lol.

Well, my GBPUSD was stopped out this morning for a gain of plus 300 pips which I'll take anyday

Other trades are up just over 100 pips at the moment so all is well.

Total pips for Jan 07: plus 861 pips
Cumulative since Nov 06: plus 2193 pips

OK, just been stopped out of my USDCAD long for minus 46 pips. Will re-enter both USDCAD & GBPUSD later.

Total pips Jan 07: plus 815 pips
Cumulative since Noc 06: plus 2147 pips

OK, another day over, stop losses moved & new trades entered. Been a funny old day - have closed two trades over 250 pips to the good but feel I've left a few pips on the table on some of my trades. Anyway, thats my method, and it works for me - enough of my ramblings, onward & upward

Existing trades.......

USDJPY short from 121.61 (s/l at 121.85 guarantees minus 24 pips)
USDCHF short from 1.2468 (s/l at 1.2508 guarantees minus 40 pips)
EURUSD long from 1.2966 (s/l at 1.2939 guarantees minus 27 pips)

New trades......

GBPUSD short from 1.9693 (s/l at 1.9841 guarantees minus 148 pips)
USDCAD long from 1.1791 (s/l at 1.1754 guarantees minus 37 pips)

So, worst case scenario on these open trades would be a loss of 276 pips. Still haven't had a losing trade over 100 pips yet so hope GU doesn't reverse on me. Actually had a good retrace before close so have got in at a better price.

USDCAD is still a mystery to me lol. Out of the 2000+ pips I've made, I'm only up 22 pips overall in UC . Anyhow, at least even that is currently in profit and I'm less than a quarter of my way through my live testing so it's early days.

Let's say after a year usd/cad is only up 20 pips or even down 20 pips. Think you would say this pair isn't right for your method and remove it?

Nice trades, I come daily to keep up with your take on the GBP/USD.

I do not trade any other currencies, but I have seen the positions you have taken on the Cable, and they have been very accurate.

You may well be right. I've said I'll test for the whole year and that's what I'll do. It may be that the next nine months UCAD becomes my most successful pair - it's too short a timeframe to consider yet.

When I backtested I made pips on it as with the others but they all had periods where it was tricky. I'll judge after the 12 months and if I need to, may substitute it for EURJPY. All pairs seem to work pretty well overall but I like the tighter spreads which is why I've always avoided pairs like GBPJPY & EURAUD so far in this.

Yup, so far GU has been the best performer with over 1100 pips out of the 2100ish I've made since November. I'm sure I'll have a bad month or two on GU but it's fitted my method pretty well so far.

yes that is true. It may be soon you make +800 on the pair then it worked. Didn't think about those slow periods...

Getting there - yup, discipline is the key - once I've made my decision and pressed buy or sell, that's it period.

Also I'm confident in the method which helps and I know exactly where I want to be in 12/24/36/48 months - all mapped out, now it's down to me

Don't mind posting the losers as long as they remain little losers - makes posting the big winners much more fun

First of all, i would like to congratulate on your system. I see that you have already taken the first step in your journey to success.

I am also in middle of starting my own journey soon.

I have a question to better understand your system. I went through all your threads, if it has been answer, then i am sorry to ask again...

I know you are using two indicators ( for decorations and making your chart look pretty ).....

Lets says at start of new days , how do you determine whether to go short or long on particular currency. ( if i am not mistaken your just look at candle sticks formation - correct me if i am wrong ). If thats is the case, can you please post some charts with example what make you go short or long in particular currency.

Thanks for your comments - yes I mainly use the candlesticks to enter the new trades but will also look at failure of breaching support or resistance and the possibility of a trend exhausting.

I'll try and post a few charts later for you - I'm off to my day job soon - but as I'm sure you're aware it's much easier to spot opportunities and missed opportunities after the event

I'm often wrong but I think the method I use sticks to that old saying of cutting your losses and letting your winners run. I win between 30-40% of trades but those tend to be biggies compared to the comparitively small losers. That and of course discipline to stick to the rules and plan whatever the consequences.

I traded yesterday GBPJPY. A nce bearish candle looked promising to continue the downward trend.. Entered at the market around 8pm EST and by 1 am it reached 115 pips. At that point it was touching the 38.2 fibo and was not too far from the Vegas pivot. In order to avoid an Ambien overdose I closed at the market with 110 pips in the pocket and had a well deserved drink of Stoli.
This morning the pair decided to climb back about 150 pips. Anybody can enlighten me what happened? Or not happened? Or whatever?

Hi,

Firstly, many congrats on your 110 pips & if you're still sober I'll try and give my take on it. The same has happened on UJ where I took a short trade yesterday and have been as much as 140 pips up on it. I'm currently about 60 pips up and will lock in around 30 of those by close tonight unless something dramatic happens. That's my rule & I stick to it - I may only get a few pips but that's fine because I don't miss out on the multiple hundred pip trades that way.

As far as explaining why the weaker yen in the latter part of the day. I believe there is an upcoming meeting of the G7 nations this weekend. A few days ago there was rumour that they would discuss the weak yen & therefore a lot of traders with short yen positions cashed in. Today, a couple of ministers have said that they won't be talking about the yen so again it has weakened. That's what the fundemental traders will tell you anyhow.

I may be wrong - usually am lol
