That is impressive, but I guess understandable. I just RFQ'd for 200M and I got 6 wide. TKGB do you think that you would have any problems buying 193M with Dukas on one order?

I don't see why not, they certainly claim you can. I've tested orders of that size in the demo environment, and that's where you'll see it fill at FXi, CNX, Lava, Goldman, Dresdner, etc. I imagine the live environment would work the same.

fxtrader42, any ecn would be good for 50mill 5 wide, to get 150+ mill on 5 wide you can't beat that.

I have to say that is good but when you have more banks I would assume liquidity would be better. However, what I dont get is why the top of the book is so weak but the whole book is relatively strong. I just dont understand that.

That is certainly the question du jour, one I've been trying to get answered for quite some time without success. Though I have been filled at 5-10M with zero slippage when the displayed size was a paltry 1M or less, I guess that's some comfort.

Well its hard to imagine doing a 150M trade at one time for me anyways not saying it doesn't happen. However, I truly wonder if any of these ECN's have clients that are doing that kind of size at one time. I have never really done much more then 50M at a time and thats a huge trade for me and at that size I am almost always 3 wide and sometimes 4 wide. I guess that is where it is hard for me to imagine that when you triple that you only pay an extra pip. For example I RFQ'd 200M and saw 6 earlier and I was kind of amazed that it was that low. I just did it again and I got 7 wide. I imagine that if I had a bigger account and I did a lot more volume that they might become more competitive but I dont know. None the less, Moe you are correct 150M at 5 wide is pretty damn good. However, I bet it is torture watching it move 10 pips against you at that size. Considering you would be paying a spread that costs you, oh, only 750K. I know that if I wanted to have that kind of position I would average into it.

I'm surprised you needed to ask.

Most traders, let alone 'bank' traders, can count. Things like pip value become second nature.

Thanks for catching my mistake. The value of a pip for that trade is def. 75K. I had 750K in my head because I was first referring to what it would be like to be down 10 pips on the trade. Which would be 750K, going into that trade with a 5 pip spread would obviously cost 375K. I still dont see how me not saying exactly what I meant to say proves that I dont trade with a bank. But you and everyone else can think what they want as I am not here to prove myself to anyone.

1 pip = 0,0001
1 step = 1/2 pip = 0,00005

1 pip of $150M = $15k = $15.000
1 step of $150M = $7k5 = $7500

5 pips will cost $75k

15 pips will cost $225k

Ionly traded several trades with 12 mil, order was executed ok, And Duka take liquidity from hotspot , lava, Currenex and other places.

I gotta question for Rusty... how much does trading on JPY crosses affect the price on the major pairs through the Asian and European session? A lot? Half and half?


How many big players are seriously looking at the JPY crosses?

How many big players are seriously looking at the JPY crosses?
I trade them, and I can tell you that the impact is significant. Just a moderate-sized trade in one (10-20m) will visibly affect the others, and it normally takes a few minutes to recover. This observation applies to Asian session.

Are you kidding? 10-20M is a drop in the bucket, there's no market impact from an order that small. You might be confusing your broker's limited liquidity (and the price data therein) with that of the interbank market. It takes exponentially more size to have an effect on interbank prices.
