FxLabs from oanda recently released something called fxcontest. You can set a contest, define a period of time, people can join and try their best.
It's on the demo accounts, so no stress.

I've just created a contest and i challange you to join. It's not about reward, it's about for those who participate to see where they stand compared to the others, to the competition . One week for people to join and 1 month for the contest.

So to be sure that everybody is who they say, please use the same nickname as here and send me a private that you joined so i would know that you really did.

The contest name is FF.

So how can i join? do i have to open demo account on oanda? or what? can i use interbank demo acc?

You have to have an oanda demo account. Once you have one the account number will be listed at the top of the main trading window.

Nice to see that some people like the competition.
I didn't received a confirmation here (private message or a post) for "hilmy83".

Anyway, it's a new thing for me, so i don't know exactly what the rules are. I think at the end we get the report and decide based on it.

wait i was supposed to send you something? i did sign up and it says something about waiting for confirmation ..i guess i'm waiting for you...

i'm not sure how well i will fare in this competition. Since i'm using daily chart ad i'm trading long term..but hey..it's fun!

OK, WTF? There are like 26,000 members at the factory and we cant get more then 10 to sign up for a comp.? Quit being babies and sign up! :

Have every participant put $100 towards a pool for the winner and they'll sign start to sign up. I'll administer and take a 10% administrative fee. Let's see 5000 players and we get a pot worth $50,000- 5000 fee and everybodys happy

I haven't looked at the details of the comp...how does this work? Do all participants start out with the same amount of capital?

Its a demo, so you can start with whatever you want. The statistics are:

number of trades
total trade value
maximum drawdown
sharpe ratio
and return on balance %

The winners will have the best sharpe ratio/return %. So it doesn't matter how much you trade with.

Summit, i think the promo fee has already been accounted for. Sounds like a great way to introduce some clients to oanda, good angle. Don't take this as a criticism, I think it is smart. However, I do think there must be an entry fee and prize even though maybee it wouldn't be called that. You know, just to keep people honest. Its tough to play poker agaainst people when there is no money on the line, hardly makes it a game worth playing, not because of the money but because of its psychological effect on game play.
Howabout talking to someone at oanda to make the contest on a mini account where you enter in with a $100 and oanda throws in $25 for each contestant that signs up in a seperate account, winner keeps the account. if 2000 people sign up, some lucky chap will get a $50,000 account.

I'm with ya, but we don't need to "trade" live money. We could just as easily accomplish the same goal with a $10-$100 buyin. All the loot goes in a pot and the winner just gets paid. No need to mess with trying to get oanda to do something out of the ordinary.

In any event, we should probably do a trial run before we get money involved. Who knows how it really works...
