I think that I have been given you (and others as well) a wrong evaluation on the NLCT. When you upload your analysis tonight, I will try and get it right.

Sometimes I even get blinded by the charts

Hi everybody,

After a lot question about the Spreadsheet I began to develop a new one but I think in a better way.

This new one is a Access DB, this is the first release, and isn't ready yet, please I'm waiting for any suggestion or change. I hope that can help.

PS: Tomorrow I'll put a little manual to use it. Now the DB is filled with some examples, please first fill your information and after that delete the example information.

Does anyone have a statement that shows the P/L this system has produced in the last month or so?

Would be greatly appreciated.

Here's my analysis for today. I'm actually not placing all these trades today because I'm starting over from scratch. I've been getting confused with all the trades that should have been closed and I missed them by mistakes. So I wanted to start over so to get an accurate P/L calculatio from this point forward. Also I feel that we're starting to get some decent trends developing, so I thought this would be a good place to start new. I've done the analysis as if I'm continuing as normal, but I only actually placed trades for 5-6 pairs that show fresh reversals today.

Your daily ATP trade analysis is very helpful and appreciated. I started trading ATP since it's inception here on FF and I still get the trades confused. I am up +10% on a 10K acct. started on 03-13-08. I only trade 5 pairs and trade mini lots (0.10) on a standard acct. I closed all my trades at one point for +15% gain and restarted again.

Note: I am confident that once I get my head around all the ATP trades and SL management the returns will be much better. Not to say that a +10% gain in less than a month is something to frown upon.

Hello Everyone....

I have been here, but there are just some things that I was not happy about with ATP so I spent the night trying to figure out how to make it better and easier to manage. I think I am getting closer all the time.

Tonight I revamped the TAMB trades to where we will only place them at certain times and also added a Non-Lag Position Trade (NLPT) which is a very easy trade to spot and implement and will will help us get back in the trade when no TAMB trades are signalled. I also need to refresh myself on the NLCT as I have been placing it wrong and have been showing on this thread how to place it wrong as well. I need to go over the instructions to make sure that those have it right.

Also since Swing Man's Indactor (you are awsome) I am also playing with some of the settings as it is very helpful that the dots stay put. I will let you know what those are soon as well.

I will not have time to get to any analysis tonight as it is very late and i must get up early. I will try to get you my updated thoughts regarding the two trades mentioned above and double check the NLCT as soon as possible.

My Results since starting this thread:

Thanks TF for also posting your results. I am currently up 11% in my account balance, down from the 20% that I did hve in the bank. However, my equity is currently up just over 9%, which means that if I were to close that out now I would be at 20% profit for the month.

It is also safe to say that 3 other times I could have close out my equity with 10% profit including today when in fact at one time it was near 15%. This may have changed things a little, but the fact remains is that I think I could have bagged more profit if I wanted to and in fact am still learning the best way to handle these situations.

I am hoping that the noew S/L and Exit Solutions will eliminate the need for closing trades out at all except on those signals.

I believe all the changes that I have implemented tonight and over that past week are very positive aspects to trading ATP.

Hello Everyone....

I thought that we needed to be a little more selective with the TAMB trades and try to eliminate entering them during times of a "flag" formation, etc where they can eaisly cost us a lot of bagged pips. For that reason I have added some rules for this trade that I think will actually make it easier to trade.

Here are the General Rules:

1. I think that we should not have any more than 6 pending trades in any one direction. Of course you are welcome to place as many as you would like.
2. We will not place any TAMB trades until we have a NLRT Signal.
3. After we have a NLRT signalled, we will then place all TAMB trades (myself up to six) that fall above/below the high/low of the signal bar and the signal bar of the previous NL turning yellow.
4. Standard S/L and Exit Rules apply.
5. Any trades that don't trigger should remain pending until you get a new set of signals in either direction.

Please see the chart below for an example of placing Long TAMB Trades

As you can see from the chart above we have a NLRT Long where the yellow vertical line is on 3/11/08. At this point we place TAMB trades long on all Lower Highs that fall between the high on the bar of 3/11/08 and the high of the bar on 3/6/08 which was our last NL yellow pointing the opposite direction of our current NLRT signal.

As you can tell from this chart we would not be able to place any TAMB trades here because the bar on 3/11 already has gone higher than the high of the bar on 3/6. Having these rules would have saved us a lot of pips in this trade where it was a tight range and moving fast.

As you can see from the chart above our last NLRT Long signal was on 2/12/08. So, at the close of the bar on 2/12 we would place long orders at each place there was an arrow, and after we reached the last place the NL signalled yellow and down, that is where we would stop placing our TAMB trades which is at the yellow horizontal line and the highest yellow arrow

As you can see from the chart above based on the rules described above, we would have placed 2 short trades after the close of the bar on the 3/26/08 which was our NLRT Short Signal. These trades would still be pending as niether of them would have triggered

Okay...I think that is it . Using these trades a little more selectively will help us save pips and still help us get to our profit target quickly so we can close accounts and add money to the bank.

Now I would like to introduce you to my Non-Lag Position Trade (NLPT)

This was designed to pick up some of the slack that was lost when I became more selctive with the TAMB trades. This is a much safer trade and because we do not place as many at one time is a more realistic approach to when we are not having any other pertinent signals.

Here are the Basic Rules:

1. Normal S/L and Exit rules apply
2. This trade is place when ever the NL has gone to yellow
3. This trade will always be placed against the direction of the NL
4. I am choosing to only have 3 pending NLPT at one time in any one direction (6 total), but a different number might work better for you. If you get to a fourth, simple close out your earliest one and place the new one.
5. We place these trades on top of any other signals we get from any of our other trade strategies.

Please see the charts below for a visual description of placing a NLPT Trades:

The arrows in the chart above co-incide with the NL giving us a direction change. You will see the when the NL signals up, we place our pending order short below the low of the bar and when the NL signals down, we place our pending orders long above the high of the bar.

This will help us in many times get back into trades if our exit strategies have been triggered as a solid base when no other signals are evident.

BTW...I have been thinking more about your suggestion for leaving 1/2 DPTT open and only closing out 1/2 of it instead of all of it.

Based on some of the new changes and updates I think that I am going to give it a try only on bars where the DPTT is the only trade. On days where other trades also trigger I think I will close out the whole thing and let the other trade run its course.

Hello everyone...I am looking for your input.

It seems relatively easy to achieve 10% in open profit with ATP, but what I have witnessed is that somewere between 10-15%, I see a major retracement as was the case on Monday where I was up to 15% in open profit and then after the close of today I am back down to 5% in open profit....though my account balance is also up.

This just seems to be a common theme and based on the fact that we always close out our losses and keep our winners I feel it is important for us to take profit at a certain point.

My thoughts are that at 10% in profit that we....

1. Close all open trades except the ones that would have opened that day. We leave those run on as our base
2. The next trade that would open in the same trend direction would become our base trade which means that even if it is a DPTT we would leave it run its course until we get an exit signal
3. Leave all pending orders alone.

Those of you following along and who are trading with me, do you have any thoughts on this issue?

I like the idea of closing open trades to reduce equity exposure, but I would favor closing the trades with the highest equity contribution to lock in half our profits at 10% and leave the remaining open trades with a tight S/L.

I have been correcting you wrongly regarding the NLCT and so some of my critiques up above might not make any sense. The charts got blurry on me and I had to shake it off .

Please bear with my corrections over the next few days as you get in the groove with the changes and the correct corrections. I am sorry to have confused you regarding the NLCT's

Hey fxl.....This is a good suggestion, but I would be unsure of which 50% to close. Do you just close the ones in profit? Do you just close the ones in a loss. Because there are 14 pairs that I am trading, this would be very confusing.

I think it is an all or nothing deal in this case

Based on Swing Man's Shi_Silver indicator (thanks man) and some of the updated rules I have changed one of the settings within his indicator.

I have change the Otsup value on all pairs to 10

You can change yours as well by going into the propeties menu of the indicator and double click on the Otsup column and change the number there for all pairs to 10.

I do recommend using Swing Man's indicator instead of the one I posted on the first page.

Sorry to be changing things from time to time, but trading is evolution in process

As you can see from the charts above, this would have been our actions for today:

2. Place a DPTT short
3. Place a TRT Short
4. Could also place a AODT short, but since both are based on the AO and market is uncertain at the moment, one or the other would be fine.
