This forum needs a better search function.

Do scalpers trade with the typical 2% risk on each trade? I see they trade with more lots, but with tight SL's does that still keep them within 2% risk per trade?

if they are smart they will.

I will typically risk between 1.5 and 2% on each trade.

Doesn't have to be...sometimes 2% sometimes 5%...depends on the market-conditions, pair and the oppertunity. My SL is 2 to 4 pips on EUR/JPY and 1 to 2 pips on EUR/USD depending on the state of the CyroxMMA flame...

I risk a lot more than 5%. The reason being I plan my entry and exit My stop lost is always the recent support or resistant level that has been broken and my goal is always a small number of pips with a lot of lots. I usually don't stay in a trade for more than 15-30mins and I always enter and exit on the 1min time frame.

Ofcourse it can be more, if you can risk it...

Man I usually don't stay in a trade for more then 1 minute and I always enter and exit on the 1 sec. timeframe... jumping-in, ride the wave till I have enough and jumping-out...
One would hope that a rule could be bent to accommodate all trading styles. Mathematically I was able to create scenarios that kept me within the 2% risk level. But it was relative and was having to adjust where I put a SL most of the time. Too large of a number of lots put me in a dangerous place. The question I have is if you have faith in your indicators why not let them allow you to get in a trade that you could gain more pips with less lots risked?
That is right PW. I never understood the desire to scalp. I mean, sitting there all day snagging 3-7 pips, even 20 pips. The killer is upside down Risk to Reward. I mean why risk 20 pips or worse, no stop, to make 4-6 pips. Plus you have to beat the spread each time you re-enter the market.

The idea is to be able to compound your account quicker. At least, that is how I see it. Your win rate is higher since you can generally trade the noise and hit your TP before hitting SL most of the time. If you can make 5 high probability trades a day with the same 2% risk as is recommended risk, then you're increasing you're compounding in style. The problem is when you get hit. Zoip!
