Ken Pipsqueaker "See you on the Pipside"
DislikedHey squeaker, how you been man?
As far as your question, who knows? All the yen crosses are dead this week.Ignored
DislikedThanks RICK for that summary on scalping etc. I like most like to have fun scalping & do it wisely. I've been anxiously waiting for the SN finished product have come to know you guys are THE best. And so I'm placing my bet on SN above ALL others.Ignored
Inre-reading my posts, I think I have given the impression that i don't scalp or tatr SN is not good for scalping. Neither is true. I like to scalp because I like the challenge, but I approach scalping from the cautious angle of a more long TF trade. I use deep catastrophic stops, which I do not expect top ever hit. I size my position based on this catastrophic stop, so that I caanot lose more than I am willing to risk. This also puts my stop away from where the broker can run it. I then let my target or signals get me out of the trade.
I think SN actually has a lot of potential as a scalper and I have traded it that way bot with the EA and manually. I use the reactive settings along with fixed targets. I scale out and move my stops as soon as i can to preserve profit. With scalping, I scale out, while with swing/poition trades, I pyramid.
I believe when we are done, we will have a system that can work for most trading styles across most TF's. But if I was going to really try to make money scalping, it would be with an ECN broker. That way I wouln't have to have such big stops and could increase my position.
Hope this clears up my position on this subject.
Yes, I am with IBFX and the widening is really troubling. I remember a while back that they said that the live servers don't show this behavior to the same degree as the demo servers, but I haven't compared my live account during news lately.
I wrote, about a year and a half ago, some code that would allow the user to specify for any desired pair a range of times on w weekly basis to avoid taking trades and it worked fine. This situation is different as we want to protect open positions. What we could use this for is:
1. Avoid taking new position on news spikes (the Price filter should do this also)
2. Close out positions in profit before news. I don't really like the randomness of this, but for scalper, it would be fine. As an aside, a close postions at end of week would be useful for some, as well.
3. Widen the stops before news, but restore them after. I don't like this either, as it means more risk.
4. Open a temporary hedge in the opposite direction of the position before news. This would incur transaction costs and possible loos (or profit) when the hedge is removed. I have implemented something similar before in which autohedges were applied at market close and removed at market open. I also used this system to balance positions that exceed a ceartain equity drop. So when the JPY carry trades went bananas, my code caught the drop at 20% DD and balanced the account with a hedge. I kept the hedge on until the price came back up. This works, I actually prefer cutting the losses short. All that hedging gets to be nerve wracking
The real answer is ECN brokers.
I was using the EA on a 4H TF and really low mlots at 0.10. It is really doing fine there - unfortunately I flung in a few bigger manual trades and so it would not make sense to post any account data. But it obviously works on the longer TFs for some time now.
On the smaller TFs I have seen it work during this week and it was really nimble in catching the fast changes we saw on the Yen pairs all over this week. With TPs from 30-55 it did a good job. All TFs seem possible - somhow I am mentally stuck with the long ones - but I am willing to change and diversify!
Let us have the plans for next week
Or shall we continue the free testing and wait for some reports then?
Ciao & nice weekend!
And a big hallo to your daughter - she is in the same boat with mine! http://www.jubailforums.com/vb35/ima...ies/harhar.gifIgnored
I am talking to Dave Manoukian from ATC (Availtrade) and he sounds really sincere and would love to give a group solution to a homogenous group of people (meaning he will not require big $$ and still give the better feed). He tells me, that they have recoded the server for MT4 into C++ and can plug in 5 different platforms onto their feeds.
He comes more from the futures and options side and has a good open mind. A little setback is the fact that he is "about to get ready" since November last year. Hope he will get things done.
Another opportunity comes with hotspot on MT4 - they are about to release it and there is a contact via RCote there. So we may have a good life there also.
There are other ECN or ECN like solutions like Tradeview, but their Demo is not too impresive and their sales guys are "notorious" to say the least and you can't get a hold of the leading guys there.
Guess we will have a good one figured out as we get ready here.
DislikedGuys is it possible to plot the indicators for this system in marketiva's streamster?
Is DMI the same DMI used in tha ADX? What is the full form of QQE?
DislikedJust passing by for a late night Friday Howdy from me to y'all here in Supernova country
Hope all is well.
That is really great! My test from when I was in Helsinki used just QQE entry and fixed TP's and has also done well on the lower TF's. Like you, I am mostly a longer TF trader, but as I have said many times, SN seems to be able to handle many different scenarios with unusual grace. I admit that I have probably added too many features to SN, but I wanted to try to provide the features that would allow the most trading styles to be used since every trader has his/her own style.
I am trying to get the MM done for tomorrow. It's going more slowly than I would like as my workload is brutal right now. I am giving it as much time as I can. The great thing is that some of these new features are doing really well and give us the ability to trade many different markets. I have been using your idea recently for exits on lower TF's (which I often use manually). Believe it or not I caught 2 E/J trades on the M5 using an M1 exit QQE only. I set this up as a visual test just so I could verify it was working and it worked really well. For someone who thinks the H1 is living dangerously, I was really astonished.
Have to drop into the cushions! Seen you on Oz ! Cool thing there, too!
See ya! http://www.jubailforums.com/vb35/ima...es/sleep_1.gif
