TraderGeek, your picks look pretty good and I agree with all but the EUR/JPY. It's close, but I get 49.099 for the RSI on the daily chart. It may just be the difference in our charts. Anyway, it may still work out to be an ok trade. Just be watchful. Bob (imo)

Just checked this site for the first time in a few days. Was shocked to read your decision to sign off so soon, but respect it. As I said I haven't worked my way all the way through the thread yet and need to find my way over to the chat room.

That said, I've been through the first 120 pages or so of posts and feel like I have a pretty good feel for the system. I also like EA's, not as a completely mechanical system, but as a way to spend as little time staring at the screen as I can. So I have put together one based loosely on the one from trendchaser early in the thread. But I changed some things to make it be more strictly adhering to Harold's rules so I'm starting it as v1 with my own name. I just barely wrote this tonight so your mileage may vary but I'm interested in other's experiences with it.

Parameters are as follows:
CommentString: I use this instead of MagicNumber. I find it easier to separate out trades that way.

SignalMail: EA will email you using your MT4 settings when it opens a trade. If you only want signals and do not want the EA to place trades for you, turn this on and disable "Allow Live Trading"

UseHourTrade: if false, will trade whenever EA is active. When true, uses FromHourTrade and ToHourTrade to only open trades between those times GMT. Note this is limited in that it has to be within the same day. So you couldn't do 21GMT - 3GMT for example.

TakeProfitMode: If false, TP will be 0
TakeProfit: # of pips to set TP at if above is true

StopLossMode: If false, SL will be 0
StopLoss: # of pips to set SL if above is true

Lots: Fixed # of lots to trade. I may add some MM later but this is fixed for now.

Slippage: slippage allowed on order. Since we're buying/selling at market this should not matter too much.

The remaining parameters are for the indicators being used and should be self-explanatory. They are all set up using Harold's parameters by default.

Let me know what you think. My goal in this is NOT to build a totally mechanical EA but one that will at a minimum email you signals and can be used to enter trades if you want it too. There is no exit management based on signals changing ... just the SL/TP you use.

Let's see what else ... the EA uses the CommentString to only have one trade open at a time. If you are Using HourTrade it will tell you if you are in/out of trading hours at the top left of the screen. Also puts the hourly and daily directions and outputs the current values of all the indicators. I put this in for debugging but figured I might as well leave it ... helps to be able to trust the EA if you can check them.

The other thing I want to say is that I have no intention of making a bunch of changes to this EA to suit everybody's whim or holy grailitis as Harold calls it. If there are bugs in it in terms of the indicators, taking trades, etc. that is one thing. But my intent is to create an EA that follow's the system exactly. Not to say someone else can't do it ... just rename it and make it your own if you do so. This is not to say I'm not open to suggestions ... but let's try to keep them within the system. I have seen too many EA's get out of control.

it was noticed that the EA would take numerous trades per day since if it hit a TP/SL, if the signal was still valid, it would open another trade. I have added the following parameter to deal with this, defaulted to 1:

MaxTradesDaily: If the # of closed trades for today is >= to this number, it's done for the day (on that symbol anyway).

Here's a neat little clock indicator I find helpfull from a member here on ff. it displays different time zones and your pip spread.

ps - i forgot to say, make sure you check "allow DLL imports" or you will get an alert for the error.

thx for the EA, maybe i can use it for some backtesting
i had a couple of loosing trades lately, so i need backtesting to pick up more confidence.
Harold dont use the Stoch-indicator in the daily setup only in the H1 Chart.
If i understand the coding of the EA correct, theres a check of the daily Stoch, right?

the rule says: close the trade at once, if there is a change in the indicators at he end of the aktuell candle.
i do not find this in the EA

Also, I got into AUDJPY today at 21 GMT based on the Daily and Hourly both being long. Jury is still out on that one but after reading further I'm thinking the entry was bad because it was outside the trading hours (6 to 15 GMT)?

Not trying to ask newb questions ... just validation on what I did/didn't do wrong.

There is a check of the daily stoch. Must have missed that in the rules. I will change that. Also, as I mentioned, there is no real trade management in the EA as of yet. Just the SL/TP set at the time of the order. I will take a look at adding an exit on indicator change though.

Trades placed last night at 2am EST:

GPBJPY +50
USDJPY -28, closed this morning when saw signals had reversed. At one point it was up 27 pips, thinking about setting a 25pip TS on these pairs and 40pip TS on G/J.

Any thoughts?

Changes for this version:

Removed Stoch from Daily trend calculation

Added the following 2 parameters:

SignalMailAllSignals: If SignalMail = true and this = true, an email will be sent for any signal, even if MaxDailyTrades has been met. A trade will not be opened however. The thought here was that you could use your discretion to decided if you wanted to open the trade or not at this point.

ExitOnChange: If this is true, an open trade will be closed if the indicators change directions. I have mixed feelings about this one because you're potentially bailing early on things but still have a fixed TP. But somebody requested this and said it's part of the rules so here it is. But it does seem to me like we should have a more dynamic way to manage TP if we're doing this.

I just wrote it yesterday so I only have one day of forward testing. Here's what V2 got me last night:

AUDJPY +30
GBPJPY -30 (had the SL on this seto to 30 and I think I need to open it up to 40-50 per the rules)
EURJPY +30
GBPCHF +30
Total: +60

I missed out on EURCAD because V2 of the EA was checking Stoch. V3 would have had this one. But still not a bad start.

In terms of Backtesting, IMO it's garbage. I have never found any EA that backtest the same way it forward tests. There are just too many variables in terms of the data and more importantly, discretion the trader applies while in the trade.

V3 has the changes you requested. Daily Stoch check is gone and there is a parameter whe you can optionally ExitOnChange.

See above for my thoughts on backtesting.

I'm adding another parameter to the EA based on some input from seamonkey. This will give us the option of staying out of a trade if it's under 10 / over 80 per the rules.

Questions:

1. Is it the Stoch or the Signal line that we car about being under 10 / over 80?
2. Should I make the values (10 and 80) parameters as well?
