DislikedThere are ONLY 2 types of EA's in the world..
1. Those that work, and are not discussed..
2. Those that dont work.Ignored
DislikedHere is your winning response, bar none. I know it's the winning response because it's how I and others that I talk to regard about our stuff. In other words, we don't talk about them with other people. The thing is, I am competing against you, and a properly thought out automated system is a lethal weapon in this industry and I'm not about to let my competition get their hands on it.Ignored
DislikedProve it!
I dont think there are any good EAs that consistently make money... I think some systems work but the market eventually changes and everything goes to ..... blahIgnored

DislikedMy response has always been.... EAs are based on luck.
Sometime quarters they could do very well.... other quarters lose everything. It is always a gamble, because you don't know how kind the market will be to you before you trade it.Ignored

DislikedI don't know the percentage but based on the number of people I have spoken with over the last 6 months, the number is quite large. Why are most of these systems not on the market? Just like one of the other posts indicated, they work and work really well. Why on Earth would they want to be bothered with having to explain how it works to a bunch of people with a lottery mentality who aren't willing to take the time or expend the effort to learn how to trade on their own??

DislikedNo need to prove it.. You can think of it as a myth..
Doesnt affect the winning EA.
I used to to wonder if anything existed.. I now know that they are out there..and funny thing is, the best ones seem to be the simple ones..
Ive seen a couple and thought, dang, why didnt I think of that..
Most of the winning ones Ive worked with require a strict NDA.
BUT, with that said, Ive never seen an EA that can run without some monitoring, baby sitting..Ignored
DislikedWhile you might luck into f inding a successful EA that's part of a community development project, The Jedi is spot on when he says, "we don't talk about them with other people. The thing is, I am competing against you, and a properly thought out automated system is a lethal weapon in this industry and I'm not about to let my competition get their hands on it."
The odds are that you're not going to get anything more out of automated trading than you personally put into it - so create your own EA's! You can define your own method and parameters and hire a coder for a minimal fee.
You'll surely fail a few times before you get things right, but this is not Mission Impossible. And once you've put in the effort to develop an EA along with the time and dedication required for forward testing, failure analysis, revising the EA and then more forward testing - the last thing in the world you're going to want to do is hand it out to people who have nothing whatsoever invested in its success.
So stop looking & start creating!Ignored
