Hi Jasius

So far as I understand, and many have said likewise, MT4 back testing is pretty unreliable in terms of being able to predict the profitability and otherwise of an EA. Testing the logic, it may be ok. But do I trust back test results, especially against a demo platform that has holes in data? Nope.

I've run EAs with different indicators and settings on different time frames and had good results some weeks and then terrible the next.

Personally, scrolling back through charts and looking closely at the squiggles and collecting info and then tweaking and then forward testing gives me a better comfort feel. This group of testers is dedicated to a longer-term plan that involves a lot of testing. I like this approach. It's not for everyone.

I totally agree with these sentiments. Back testing has proved to be so unreliable, I don't even try anymore. Forward testing on a demo account is much more valuable, especially with Rick's SupernovaStat indicator.

My independent test using a 1H TF for all pairs (except GJ) has proven to be profitable so far. It would be even better if I employed some type of MM but then that wouldn't be a very good test of the EA. I expect things to get even better when Rick has improved the reactivity and includes his MM theories.

Since I started testing codox's settings a couple of days ago, I am +42 in closed trades and currently +32 floating.

That's great! I am really pleased the EA is making pips and am constantly amazed at how versatile the SuperNova strategy and indicators are. Hopefully, our testing will make it even better (and safer).

Codox - thanks for sharing this with the group.

looks good for this month but if you look more in the back...like in june...was really bad...I went as back as I could on the 15 min chart and checked both the 15 min charts and the 30 min chart signal by signal and candle by candle with a pen in my hand...a lot of work so I gave up after I saw the bad rezults week after week in that month ( well the 1st week was in a little of profit)...

Hey Brandy-Bird!

Well I would use it on the 1h/4H and there it seems to have some edge. You are right - on the 15M it all ends in tears and in fact the normal QQe is much better there as it keeps you from jumoing from one false start to the other. But I still believe firmly that the EA will really be best, including really low Relative Drawdown on the +1H TFs.

Good Day!

Hiho, Main!

H1 brings the most pips per month on the long term tests - H4 is running with the least drawdown, clear signals and the least noise. This is for all the Yen crosses plus USDJPY, GBPUSD and AUDUSD.

Check it out!
Greetz!

I think the best way to use supernova is on the daily chart, but ONLY checking if the monthly and the weekly are trending...
the advantages: many pips, not su much time on the pc,better signals...

yes..next open position will open next candle close bar .

I see. I think it will be better if it can open and close position at the same time. Missed about 30 pips sometimes due to the next close bar opening.

SimonJ said Rick is going to fix it soon.. Thanks in advanced! If only I know some programming too.... I might be of some help to this community..

ROTFL!

Thanks for adding the link, but I really liked the statement from Mr. Kaul, too!
So you decided it was time for some live action - I keep my fingers crossed. And sleep is something I have nearly banned from my vocabulary until now, so that would be a welcome experience on my part also.
Jope we get this neat machine up and running and then sleep the sleep !

Ciao

I am using microlots so it is almost like a demo anyway. First few trades have been ok. Still didn't get any sleep though, woke up every hour wondering what was going on

Hallo Lords and Ladies!

The testing will close for the week in about 1 hour. Please try to make screenshots of your charts and let them show the SuperNovaStat indicator in full beauty, we may need thos later on and at least it will be good for any follow up here!

Sorry for being a bit absent for the last 1.5 days, but there was so much to drive around for all of a sudden that I did not find the time but to read.

Have a great weekend and please read your Email in time for the wk3 sets and all!

Ciao!
Gnat

Hi All,

I have been pretty quiet while I've had my head buried in code. I have been working on Money/Risk management and reactive indicators (plus a couple of other requests like same bar reverse trade on close, etc). In addition, I am hoping to release an updated SuperNovaStats that will give us more data to help analyze our results. I hope everyone has been finding the indicator useful.

I am wondering if the testers might consider postponing the MM/RM testing for one week so that we can test the reactive code. I have added several optional filters, all of which can be used in reactive and standard modes. These filters are to help us avoid getting bad fills due to news spikes and other unforeseen events. If we try to test too many new items at once, we won't know what had the greatest affect. Also, that would give me another full week to test the RM/MM and I would feel a lot better with more testing as I have been coding a great deal and want to make sure all of the other features are stabile before unleashing the MM/RM.

Let me know how you feel about this plan.

Rick
