Hallo Rick!

I am still in all three initial trades and will maybe drop put of one or two during today and will post the pictures then. I had some intermediate snapshots ready, but did not want to post hypothetical mumurings here. In sideways markets the LaG is definitely not such a smashhit, but it was initially added to aid the very small TFs as on Imran's system.

You are right about your statement that there should be no frustration about the dradown of this testing session. First of all we are not using Supernova in an intelligable way and are just testing single functions. Then we are using a pair that has so far never qualified for Supernova usage with an EA - the EURCHF - and it is not even doing bad on that. Furthermore the only setting I would have given a try initiall is the one of Carol, probably followed by the dot-to-dot from Rick.

I see the whole thing moving amazingly smooth for so many people involved directly and on the stages, so that we may come to conclusions within a few weeks here. Thanks Rick for adopting us for your EA coding as you may have turned elsewhere by chance and we would have never made it this far. And also special thanks to Glenn, who never let go the EA idea and was stubborn enough to bring it so far!!

I actually would need more sleep now, but I opt for the second best option - coffee! I made a big one! Please help yourself!

Ciao & Good morning from Old Europe
Matt

Hi Matt,

I am very interested in your findings about Lag. I read some of the recent posts on the Imran thread and they have the same interpretations that we do. When Lag fails to make the target, the trend has broken down and it is a good time to take the small loss. It really might prove very useful for cutting losers short when used with other indicators. It seems to be able to tell broken trends more rapidly than many of the other indis.

Hi Matt,

I agree that it is difficult to interpret the usefulness of LaGuerre in this example. We will have to wait for the others, but it might be that with the default settings, H1 is not very predictive for LaGuerre.

Hi Rick!

Not very predictive is like trying to be kind to the indicator! LOL! With the two other trades, shorts on EURJPY and GBPUSD it seems to play "We stay in until we are right!". The Laguerre decided to pin itself to the ceiling!
Now some other paltforms turned from buy to sell on the GBPUSD, so it may end in profit. I will keep you posted!

Ciao!

Are you using bbands while trading manually with the ea? Thought about that after the ea opened 2 trades against the bbands and lost them...

Heya All Supernova followers....

In last 2 days, tension of thread is getting lower and lower... I think this is because of low volatility market, making losses, first weeks unsuccessful trades... Ok, you maybe right... But don't forget, this is just first week and we are not testing real combinations....

For my own settings, things are going crazy... I am starting to find best times to trade for each pair with my settings. I have some troubles with Psar TS 2 candles... I am thinking to update it with 3 candles to prevent my profitable trades from whipshaws.

And now, i am sure that, for exits, we need multiple confirmations... As i mentioned before, for example 2 of 4 criterias must be met for exits. Or, 3 of 7 criterias must be met for exits... Through my visual backtests, this will really improve the profits of the system. We can adapt it to entries too... 3 of 7 criterias must be met for entry....

Rick, i am looking for them on the EA excitedly... I hope they are codeable.

I can share my results, settings for entry/exit if you want...

Best,
Enes

I looked into this system a month or two ago and now I came back and downloaded everything for MT4 on the first post and all I can say is 'Wow! What happened?' There are now ten indicators and the first post doesn't explain what most of them are there for. Can someone give me an update of what happened?

Yes put it there. And load it when you attach the EA to a chart.

Indicators:
qqe, dmi, momentum, cci

Note that these settings are not always profitable so I wouldn't use them on a live account.
In backtesting it did like 60% in september last year. But some other months it was constantly losing.

I'm waiting for next version of the EA so the QQE will be much more reactive. Then I truly believe in good results always!

Too much to list, but just know it has gotten better. We are in a test phase to come up with the best settings for each pair to include TF ect. You may need to go back at least 30+ pages to get up to speed.

Hallo Rick and Tester!

My initial trades on GBPUSD and EURJPY are still there and are key to my entertainment. It seems that the LaG combo as we test it here always finds a good reason to stay in the trade. As you can see in the snapshot down there, the GBPUSD trade never came into winning territory and is by now quite far away from getting there. Still my only exit tool, the LaGuerre is in good faith. Now as it seems it is closing in on the lines to maybe finally close the GBPUSD down.
Rick, could you tell me what you want me to do with that? It seems that this slow reactivity is good for slow moving pairs as stated yesterday, but naturally the Supernova rather calls for the more nimble pairs and here the LaG seems to be t o o s l o w hehehe!
Maybe Wolfster has a good idea how to hammer in more funk into the LaG and I will try to lure FX_Ninja over here, as he is in my eyes Mr. LaGuerre around here.

Best Wishes! :
Matt

Hallo Simon!

Good results on a lame day - very impressive indeed. As you are testing combos at the moment, please have a look at the initial indicators of the Supernova system as posted on the first post. With a (soon faster) QQEA, a DMI set to work and the Momentum tweaked a bit for the currency pair we may have all we need for a good basis. Then we can look at the other indicators and exit helpers like PSAR & PSAT TS and give it good closing rules.

Thanks for sharing your good work here!
Greetz!

Hallo notouch!

Yeah, the things have changed since Ocotber, but then again not. We suffered some setback on the first EAs as our dedicated tester went her own ways after sucking in all available knowledge and we were sitting with a half deal in hands. But then the Glenn series of EAs was really kicking off after Rick took over the work from Skyline, who had the slightly back luck to be asked to add every indicator that someone previously used or even heard of. This produced a major knot in the Glenn EA and made it amazingly hard to steer or test.
At that point Rick Myers offered his help to sort out the aparent flaws that were showing with the EA and quickly found his way through the undergrowth. Now we are testing the functionability of the beta version that was posted last and are making good progress, as most parts are working like they should.
A possible dust out of redundant functions and indicators may follow in the process and we hope to find a good set of entry and exit rules for a set of 4-10 pairs hopefully that will make green pips long term without being curvefitting. This is the process that is running here right now. Other than that the manual traders are making good money as NOFX, Awesome, altaret and Wolfy are posting here on a regular basis.

Hope that'll help to get back in!
Greetz!

Hallo Rick!

It just had to happen: Now my EURJPY turned positive! Well, look at the chart - it seems that LaGuerre is making an equilibrium trade out of this.

Greetz!
Matt

Eidt: Looking at the single tests it is amazing that simplicity and "initial system components" seem to make the week. ( here: #4571 ) I am also amazed that my frustrating setup is in surplus while others I would have preferred have lost. Please have a look and let your ideas flow!

There's no mq4 file for the EA in the zip file on the first post, only a ex4 file so the EA doesn't work.

Also, don't you think you're falling into the trap of over-optimisation? Traders constantly warn against this. You can only optimise a system for past data and that's no guarantee for future performance.

Cryten,

Long time you are not here with us...

How is it going? Do you have any ideas for our contrubituons?

Did you change any of your own rules?

Best,

Here you go!

I have also found even better settings for the EA, backtested and does profit for the whole of 2007 except december, GBP/JPY 30m, seems to work well for any pair on this timeframe, use on live account on your own risk. Much better than the settings I shared yesterday. Pretty funny is that whenever I use any stoploss it always makes less profit!
