I have a setup which could potentially require 70 EAs running simultaneously.

Has anyone here explored the limits of the Metatrader platform?

Since MT4 is multi-threaded (according to what I could find), a dual/quad core or SMP system is going to do you a lot of good in this case, along with a gigabyte of ram. MT4 seems to be pretty "barebones" in that it doesn't have a lot of fluff getting in the way and causing unnecessary bloat that would cause your 70 EA's to melt down. As long as you have the processing power to run them all, of course. Besides that, you never really told us how in-depth these EA's are.


Flash of nerdiness: If only they would build a version of MT4 that could use an accelerator card like a PPU or a secondary GPU for processing reasons. That would be a huge boon to us MT4/API nerds.

Well... you can always hook up a DLL that connects to your PS3 and does parallel processing using the monstrous power

All of the EAs are the OZFx_Method EAs that I programmed in the OZFx System thread. Relatively simple, but largely because I don't know how to combine certain functions. If I could modify the code to handle 5 trades at once, then I would only need 14 EAs.

True. PS3 is already enabled for distributed processing (Folding @home). The only catch would be the inherent latency in going from one platform to another. With a PPU doing the work, it'd be within the architecture of the system itself though.

As far as the 70 EA's, you should be fine with a dedicated dual core processor and at least 768MB of ram.
