I started reading the book The Power Of Now this past friday. I picked it up because James16 mentioned it in another post. Since James16 recommended it I decided "What the heck" and bought it. Man, It is a really good book and very applicable to the forex markets. It has taught me why I am greedy or afraid ( I never thought I would describe myself in those words, I thought It was just ya guys ) How to get over that. And I am not even finished. Its really the best book that has helped my trading. Psychologically wise ( I probably didnt spell that right but you get the message.) it's great. When I get thru with the book if anybody wants to read the book I will send it to you. Thought I pass this nugget along. Good Trading or whatever rocks your boat.

If James said it`s good,and you said it`s good,than I would like to read it.I can`t understand how can you overcome greed,but would really like to know.

Jez I bought the book friday and now I think I'm an expert on the subject.LOL bad bluemonkey! Though of course It doesn't talk about the markets, It can help you I believe with them. It has happend to me on occasions when I am in a trade and it starts to become profitable, I trail my stop to lock in profits. Then lo and behold it starts moving against me. Now if it stops me out I still have a profit. But I am convinced that it will go back up so what do i do? I move it further back so it won't take me out. Now nobody can be so boneheaded but me to do this. it retraced 10 pips but I want them back and more. My take on this is that I am no longer managing my trade on what "is" or what is happening now. I am now trading on what I want to happen. Not what is happening Now. I can't even come close to explaining Eckhert's book or his concepts. I probably messed it up for everybody now,people gonna think " what a lame book". But get the book and read it i bet you will be glad you did. Move over Dr. Elder.

Awesome book that I read for the first time before I started to explore the forex markets. If you are like I am you'll want to keep that copy and reread it again every few months. I pick up something new each time i read it.
In trading, there is no bullshit. You either make money or you don't.

That is definitely true about rereading it and picking up other things the second time around. I have read books in the past and a friend will quote an idea or concept about a book we both read and I will say "huh?" what are you talking about?, then I go back and read it again. Its there like someone just put it in there.

isnt it funny how you can learn so much about trading from books not about trading????

ive never admitted this before, but the book that totally changed my perspective on trading is "Money Ball", a book about baseball. my trading jumped leaps and bounds after i read this book, moreso than any other book.

i will have to check this Power of NOw book out Blue. can you (or anyone else who has read it) give us any other forex lessons you learned from reading it?

I've done it too, and when I'm doing it part of my brain is screaming NO! DON'T DO IT! But I go ahead and do it anyway because I *know* this time is gonna be different. Yeah right.

Eckhart indicates that the present moment is all that we have. We are so caught up in our daily tasks to notice the fleeting moments of life. According to this author, there is no future or past. There is only memory or anticipation. The things that happened in the past give us an identity and the future is simply full of promise. Promise can take the form of fulfillment, salvation or deliverance. These are intangible and therefore simply illusions. One of the most common sayings is that time is precious. Actually, it is also simply an illusion. The factor that we consider precious is not the time but the point in that time. Eckhart calls it the Now and encourages us to stop fixating on the future or the past and focus on the Now.

It's an absolute piece of crap. He Just goes on and on. And then he babbles on about the same sh!t in his other books. The title summarizes the book.
