Question to Rick or anyone who has used and understands the time options... Clarification please on the following:
If I define StartTime and EndTime as, say, 6 and 14
1. Will the EA open a trade immediately if the entry conditions are met at StartTime or wait for the next occurrence?
2. At EndTime, I assume if there is no open trade, then the EA goes to sleep until StartTime the next day? If there is an open trade, does it close at EndTime or close when the exit criteria is met?
Oh, and one more.
3. I'm looking at the option of using only T3 for exit. Sometimes the wick of the HA candle touches the T3 line (just a temporary retrace) but the close is still with the direction of the trade, and the trade then continues in profit for a few more candles. From an earlier answer, I understand the exit logic will close a trade during the tf rather than at close of candle. Any chance of adding logic for T3 exit criteria to offer user an option to define if trade is closed during or at end of candle? Anyone else seen similar situations before we ask if it's worth a coding change?
And, while I'm thinking about it, Rick, can you elaborate and define the 'certain conditions' that you mentioned in a previous question I asked about the AllowReEntry option. It would be really useful to understand, especially where the trend lasts a few hours and there are retracements during that keeping hitting the exit criteria. Will help me to evaluate how close exit conditions should be to current price.
For testers, in terms of system building and testing and performance, and how winners/losers per trade affect an overall system, Van Tharp is a very good read. He has a couple of books out there, but if you google you should find some shorter articles (around five pages) that give a real flavour of, for example, how win/loss ratio can be low but look at the profit numbers. This may help when you get stopped out more often for small losses but then catch the occasional big runner.
Thanks for your input.
