uh.. resurrection of a dead thread. There's another indicator for TD Sequential on these forums. I believe in the metatrader section. Plus, trying to predict a reversal is IMO riskier than trend following.

Can you post the latest version of your indicator?.. I like it!!

Hi,

Can someone who is live trading DMI help in answering the following questions:

1. What are the TP and SL strategies for both the Setup and Countdown?

2. What are the recommended pairs for such reversal anticipatory trading technique? (I know that the obvious answer is all pairs but I have noticed that the technique is not that effective for long smooth directional trends such as the current USD/CAD downtrend).

3. Does it really live up to its reputation of 70%+ success rate?

I am not a MetaTrader user so I don't use any EA's posted here. But if you are looking for anything related to Tom DeMark I suggest doing a search on this site by using the feature over on the upper left.

In my opinion the best place to find Demark indicators is on CQG but it is not cheap.

Here is my answers to your questions:

1. Regarding SL and TP - On CQG when a 13 appears a SL point is automatically calculated and placed on the chart. There are no automatic TP points which is a weakness I feel so you have to decide your own exit criteria. DeMark does use TD Trend Factors indicator that paints price objectives in multiples of what I think are fibonacci based numbers.

2. As far as recommended pairs goes TD Combo or TD Sequential has application on any pair on any time frame across a variety of asset classes as the calculations are quantitatively derived. TD Combo/Sequential are market timing signals looking to see a reveral in the market so when a pair is in a long term downtrend (like USD/CAD as your mention) then the signals are likely to be false. Another Demark indicator that works well as a filter with the TD Combo and Sequential is the TDST (TD Set Up Trend) that seeks to identify breakouts and areas of support/resistance.

3. Does it have a 70% success rate - in my opinion the answer to that is no - I would say more like a 40-50% however if you have a good TP strategy and learn how to filter the signals rather than blindly trading a 9 or 13 then the risk/reward ratios more than compensate.

DeMark has several books out and the best one is the more recent one that was written with his son I believe and the title has something to do with Options but basically it is the same as his previous books but is written a little more clearly.

Although for TD Seq he doesn't suggest a TP technique to use he does have one for stop loss.

In a downtrend for a buy TD Seq, he locates the lowest bar (lowest low) in the countdown phase and then subtract the true range of this bar from the price bar's low. Obviously the opposite if in a uptrend for a sell TD Seq.

I will be writing a TD Combo and possibly TD Lines indicator for MT4 (not the Mouteki, a Demark method ripoff). Look for it sometime in September! (unless one already exists...) :-)

I have tried to correct it but there is more to then just simple syntax errors... There is a lot of other coding error types. For example GetHighTD function is plain wrong and I do not know what is the purpose... So I need to understand the logic of the code before able to correct it.

I do not know if this is the same code... It seems at least.

Put back the coundown. Everything seems to work on my charts. Added the pefected 13 series rules as well. Countdown only gets interrupted if a flip to the opposite side occurs. Dunno if that's supposed to be ignored tho. I see it is ignored on the other indicators here on this thread. Post problems, bugs, gripes, etc...

On my platform there's no number on next candle. Why??

Please help. Is it possible to use it on 30m chart?
Numbers don't show in next 30m bar period? I have to close the platform and re-open.

Yes, TD sequential can be good to look at it.As far as all of his multitudes of indicators, you have to appreciateDeMark's original thinking but that doesn't mean you shoulduse all his indicators.But if you can afford bloomberg, i think you get them all for free....But even w/ sequential, many flase signals..i will stick to TD linesand TDprice projections

Amazon.com has all three of his books. Those would be the best source because much of what I read on the net is incorrect.

using td sequential that was posted here its my experience that YOU DO NOT USE IT TO TRY TO PICK A BOTTOM OR A TOP, INSTEAD USE IT IN THE REVERSE WAY....IE THERE WILL NOT BE A REVERSAL UNTIL THERE IS A 9 OR 13 COUNTDOWN..... anyone have the whole set of demark indicators? THE REAL ONES? with all the rules? with alarms? it would be awesome if someone could do it..... (not a computer guy or I would) anyone have tdst?
