Please forgive me for my lack of computer knowledge, as I'm sure the solution to this is something simple.

In the vTerminal.pdf document it briefly explains how to change the control panel settings directly in the code. The only problem is, I can't find the code in Meta Editor. vHands functions if I click on strategy tester and run it, and I can see it in the Navigator menu of the terminal, but I can't find it anywhere in Meta Editor or even if in C/programfiles/metatrader4.

Well, let me back up a bit.........I did find it at one point, I just opened Meta Editor and there it was. I saw the code for the control panel and changed the numbers in SL and TP to what I wanted (like the instructions said) and then clicked compile. It said there was an error. So, I closed the window and the program (meta editor as well as the mt4 terminal) and opened it back up again. I thought restarting it would solve the problem. But now, I have the problem mentioned above. I can't find vHandsTrade anywhere. I have tried the search feature, as well as gone through all of the files individually one by one. What the heck?!! Where is it? It's gotta be somewhere because vhands still runs just fine......with the old control panel settings though (nothing changed).

I even tried the search feature in windows to look for vHandsTrade.mq4 but the only place it finds it is the .pdf file with the instructions.

I just checked and when I opened MetaEditor, the "Navigator" is opened on the right hand side of the window. The Navigator list the "files", "experts", etc... and all the way at the bottom is the vHandsTrade.mq4.

If you dont find it there, go to the experts folder in Metatrader, and the vHandsTrade.mq.4 will be in there too (not in a sub-folder, just by itself)

Thanks for you help. However, the file is not where you mentioned. That is the problem.

I tried just running a search for vHandsTrade.mq4 with windows, and found something, but it had an error that the file hade been moved or changed and therefore the shortcut was invalid. Perhaps I made a mistake changing the control panel settings.

I ended up just uninstalling and reinstalling Meta Trader 4, and now I am going to install vHands again from scratch. We'll see how it goes.

If I could have just found the file I would have uninstalled vHands (and not go to the trouble of uninstalling mt4) but I couldn't find it to uninstall it!

Ok, installed vHands again and I am attempting to do the same thing - change the stoploss and trailing stop settings in meta editor.

I changed the stoploss numbers to this:

int STOPLOSS[] = { 0, 15, 50, 100, 200 };

and changed the trailingstop numbers to this:

int TRAILINGSTOP[] = { 0, 15, 30, 50, 100 };

and then clicked compile.

Then it says "cannot open the program file"
"1 error(s), 0 warning(s)

This is exactly what happened before that caused all of this trouble. Do what did I do wrong? Now what do I do?

Ok, so now I tried changing the numbers to what is listed in vTerminal.pdf (which is not the settings I originally had). I hit compile and it said "0 error(s)" so I closed meta editor and opened vHands and it works now with those updated settings. Wierd. Is it not customizeable beyond this?

Current settings that worked:

int STOPLOSS[] = { 0, 15, 25, 50, 100 };

int TRAILINGSTOP[] = { 0, 15, 25, 50, 100 };

I copy and pasted your numbers from int STOPLOSS and TRAILING STOP into my vHands and compiled it - 0 errors and 0 warnings -I also changed the numbers to several other combinations and all worked ok - so I dont have any idea what is wrong. Sorry!

I made the changes that you had tried then compiled, saved it and attached it here. Maybe you could replace your vHands with this one then open it in Metaeditor and see if you can compile it on your system.

More wierdness. I cut and pasted the SAME numbers that I had cut and pasted and put on this thread from meta editor that had the error (took them off the thread, put them in meta editor again), hit compile and voila, it worked.

I have come to the conclusion that vHands is just a little buggy. This is the second problem I have had, the first being a 27 gig text file, which btw never happened again after I deleted it. Didn't change any code there.

Overall though vHands is pretty cool. Worth the hassle.

Did take a quick look at posts following this question, may have missed it, but seems there was no reply to it. Apologies if I did miss it however.

I assume this question was asked as the intent is to run the chart in full screen mode i.e. by pressing F11, and the tester window is not showing. All you have to do is press the pause key on your keyboard.

Hot DANG! Thank you thank you thank you Oromis!!!! I never even noticed that pause key before. Works like a charm, and now we can have charts big enough to read (for us cavemen with plain old 17" monitors).

A word of warning to anyone who is considering using vhands on their main trading platform - don't. Open a demo account (NorthFinance do one that never expires).

My Alpari MT4 (which I trade live with and personalized over the last 6 months) keeps freezing after downloading it exactly as directed, and when looking at the Windows Task Manager the file terminal.exe jumps around from 2 to 99% CPU usage. I changed the max bars in history, checked the tester log and there were no unusual files, deleted all the files associated with vhands and it's still f####d.

Anyone got any ideas before I delete the whole program and start over?

Good advice. I do all my playing on one computer, trading on the laptop, and that's about all I use the laptop for. The desktop can serve as a backup for live trading if the laptop goes down.

I use interbank FX, the demos never expire as long as there is activity.

My computer did what yours is doing once. I had to re-install MT4. It may have been that I had sooooo many indicators on so many charts that crashed it.

Is there a slick way to download (or copy) the trades from vHands into html(or Excel) similar to a strategy tester report?

When the vhands session is over that you wanted to retrade, it will generate the same report as if you ran any other ea and print all trades and results the same.

OK - great. I have always used long date ranges and often have to quit and then come back later and start a different range. I have never started and finished a 3 year range using H1 all in one sitting. I'll use smaller ranges and the paste them together. Thanks
