Dollar Bull in Q1?

I was just at Best Buy picking up a new dishwasher and some games for the Wii. Seemed like plenty of money being spent. Starting to rethink my Dollar bearishness on the near term. Are things really that bad...hmm.

I was in FRY's and it had a long line for returns. I skied last Wednesday and had a good time because of less people in the lift. I'm in a mall right now and it looks empty except Best Buys...my kids are using their gift cards.

I am starting to feel as if all the bad news is on the table in US, less a few more write downs.

Inflation is hardly a concern as indicated by recent economic data, and since our society refuses to increase wages...

Against the EURO, Canadian there might be continued weakness, but against the Yen, GBP, Swissy there is a real possibility for strength since those nations seem to be experiencing some real slowdowns of their own.

...and what were most of those people in line paying with? Cold, hard cash? I doubt it! Just think of the number of credit cards there are set to default... Bearish on the USD in '08 for me (with some 400-500 pip retracements, of course).

Big Banks are starting to question the usd rally.

they dont change minds so easily, so something is going on. remember they have some influence in investors mind.

only possibility for usd to rally is europe get sick by subprime and think in cutting rates, if that not happens.

Just returned from a dinner party and rapped with two accountants, one thinks US is heading for recession but notes, since the Dollar has been propped up on smoke and mirrors for a long time and thinks it may have a little more "magic" in the new year - but everyone has an opinion and no one seems 100% certain.

It's also in wilsonville Oregon just south of Portland....
