which timeframe does candlesticks work best ?

i've been told 1hr but i think it's too short while daily is too long. how is 3hr ?

do you think candlestick is best for newbies ?

Dark Cloud Cover: A bearish reversal pattern that continues the uptrend with a long white body. The next day opens at a new high then closes below the midpoint of the body of the first day.

I would also like to add that Steve Nison's Books, specifically Japanese Candlesticks but aslo Beyond Candlesticks are an essential read. I'm only an amateur so don't take what I say as the be all and all however I have learned a few things. One of those is knowing too little about something is more dangerous than good. For example the list of formations provided by WHtenn is great. Nison says candlesticks are not a system in itself but need to be confirmed with something else (ie Western Technicals, other candlestick formations, oscillators, volume etc). Just because you see a bullish englufing pattern does not mean that it is not at resistance and in fact confirming resistance. Just because you see three white soliders does not mean you will have a good risk/reward ratio as the price may be too far off it's low. I debated about whether it was worthwhile getting the book, but after I did I am glad I did (I don't have any affiliation or stand to gain anything from this book).

Also another website I found useful was www.prosticks.com (again I have no affiliation and do not stand to gain anything). While there are benefits to being a paid subscriber (i am not a paying subscriber) by signing up for FREE you are able to do a search for stocks that have recently formed various candle stick patterns - yes i know this is forex site lol.

I have a good pdf about candlestick pattern and how to apply it with trendline, fibo etc etc..and i believe it will be a good read for the noobs, but i couldnt attach it since the file is too big ( round 8MB).Just pm me if anyone want.Thx

http://www.zshare.net/ works real well. Easy to upload and download.
Then post the link here that the service gives you to point others to your upload.
