Josh, yes, you're right--it did need those checks for zero on Second & Third_TPs. I agree with your code. Are you going to post your changes?

And no, closing a smaller lot portion is not addressed. I will leave that to you. You've got a good eye! And, I hereby dub thee the new caretaker of MTP (ManageTakeProfit).

I'll make the changes later tonight and post them then, thanks for confirming.. Hmm, I don't know about being the new caretaker... we'll see :-) It's funny, when I was working as a developer in the corporate world I never enjoyed what I did, but now that it's stuff having to do with trading, what I like to do, then it's actually fun :-)

Was wondering if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I've been using MTP V2.4 for awhile and its great but now have a problem.

I'm testing a new trading system and do not want to use MTP during the testing stages. So, I removed the MTP expert from all charts. But MTP is still taking me out of trades at the levels I had been previoulsy using it!

Short of deleting the expert from the exxperts folder how can I shut MTP off. As I said it has already been removed from all charts.

step on each chart that you had the EA working and right click, click on EXPERT ADVISORS AND THEN REMOVE. That should remove it from the chart.

Now I really feel like an idiot! I thought I had already removed the expert from all charts but I did go back and check and found one chart still had the expert on it! Sorry for the moronic question!

Been enjoying the ease of short term trading with this EA. One more improvement i would like to see. With my MB Trading platform for my live account, their trailing stop also acts as a stop-loss which is very handy, since you only have to set the trailing stop and you automatically have your stop loss set as well. For example, if I set my Trailing STop at 10, then it begins trailing at -10 from my entry, thus providing a stop-loss right from the outset.
I am wondering whether we can emulate that with this EA, so that we can set a stop loss in it without having to manually do it on the MT4. That way you can set the stop specific for each cross with the EA on the chart and you have your stop loss, your break even and your TP parameters. all you need to do then is make the trade and EVERY thing else is covered.
Any one take the challenge? What I propose is that the EA has a trailing stop UNTIL it reaches BE and then ceases, since the BE function kicks in, and the rest of the programming for TP then functions.

First off let me say thank you to Stockwet and Moneybiz for posting these EA's for managing take profit levels, this is exactly what I have been looking for and it has been very helpful overall.

I have been having a problem where occasionally my trades get closed immediately as soon as the price moves one pip, causing me to have a small loss. I wanted to see if anyone on here has had the same problem and if there might be something I am doing wrong. I am using MTP 1.7 most recently posted by Moneybiz.

I only want this EA for the moving fixed stop loss levels, I do not want to use the trailing stops. I had set the trailing stop to 0, and trades were continuing properly at first, then I started having this problem. So I then set the trailing stop to a higher number than where I have my final take profit set thinking this would not kick in any trailing stop, but the problem persists. It doesn't happen every time but it does happen frequently.

To overcome this, I have been temporarily turning off the EA (make it a sad face), placing the trade, letting it move a little bit, then enable the EA again (back to happy face). This has been working but I would like to be able to use the EA normally. Don't get me wrong, the EA is great overall and I am very pleased that this was shared freely on this forum.

Referring to the MTP document default settings:
If in ver 1.7, the First_TP is set to 20 and First_Stop_Target is set to 20, should I expect that there should be both a closing of a quantity equal to Close_lots and my s/l moved to +1?
This morning with the settings at 12 each actually, MTP did move my sl to +1, but did not send any request to the server for a close of one fifth of my total position). In other words, no errors in journal.
To phrase it differently, what should my settings be to close my first portion at the same time as moving my first stop?

There are multiple versions of the EA. If you go back through the thread, you can probably find a version that does not include the trailing feature.

Hi,

I'm having trouble setting up this scenario. Please tell me if it's possible and how I can accomplish it and with which version.

Enter order with 15 pip sl
At 10 pip profit move sl to b/e
At 15 pip profit close 50% of position
At 20 pip profit close 25% of original position
Allow remaining 25% to run

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I trade both manually and with EAs. How do I get any of the ManageTP versions to ignore my EA based trades? Do I leave the magic number setting at zero?

hey moneybiz, I have a question about the imaginary stop losses. Why is it that they do not send the server request to set the sl when trailing? The reason I ask this is because where I live, there are times when we get powercuts that could go on for some time. If power happens to get cut and I have a trade running, if the EA does not create a server request for the stop, it will go to the last stop the EA created and thus possibly make a good position bad. can it be possible for it to create real stops as prices moves instead of imaginary ones?

Hi,
read the doco last night, this is a great EA but it says "you must attach the EA to ONLY 1 chart per currency per account. In big red.
But the post above talks about the EA being on different charts.

I trade 4 currency pairs, 4 charts, on 1 account. I'd like to apply the same manage profit rules to all pairs/orders open. Will this EA work if I place one instance of it on each pair chart window to manage those trades (would be cool if it does !:-) or am I limited to only one currency pair.

Hope someone can clarify, I suspect it is only one pair which would be a shame.

I find this in the documentation and it is confusing me, could someone please explain?

Could someone please look at my settings below and tell me what I have done wrong?

I want the remaining balance, of whatever the initial value was of the trade after the first two splits have been done, to trail by 55 pips.
