Your right about the 3-3:30pm EST being excellent for trading. I thought Linuxtroll meant 3am when I first read it.
Yesterday I made several 10 pip winning trades each one less than 2 minutes.

You know the more I trade and get better at it the more I understand, believe, and agree with EVERYTHING that was said in the first post.

3am EST is excellent... that is London open. (I think)

Yep agree, London open is far the best time to trade. I notice there is a lot of movement 43-30 min before the open as well.

today was my second green day in a row, 6 wins in a row. using the EUR/JPY in London open. I just stayed up for the US open there were two good trades on offer I screwed one up and made a bit on second. the NY open was not as good as i thought it may be. the yen crosses, well eur and aud / jpy are in my opinion the best to trade they move with such force. Tonight i was again waiting for the spin to thin then expand and sell failed rallies then i was buying on the spine expanding up and when price broke spine range, but u had to be quick.

I am concentrating on the spine angle now, having patience is one thing with this system, but i am really starting to think now that the time you trade makes or breaks your day being positive.

The last hour of the US stock market (3:00-4:00PM EST) is when the big guys put in their trades before the end of the day. I imagine that they do the same for the futures and forex markets during this time.

The old adage is that the first hour of the stock market open is all the newbies, impatiently dumping/buying stocks because something shook them up when they looked at their portfolio before going to work, and the last hour is the money makers, setting up their positions for the overnight session. This has become less true with online trading now, as just about anyone can check and execute trades during their lunch hour if need be.

It seems that Oanda slips my trades (6 / 10). Just bad-luck or is my i.net connection just slower...?

Really thinking moving to an ECN. How is EFX / MBT? Cannot compare the demo to real, it seems there is a price differents.

choppy US session.my entry was not so good (late).but before market open it was a strong uptrend.so most of the time it will be downtrend on this session.this trade just a bonus trade.you can always take some of your small profit(extra money) to train yourself.even your fail,but at least you still are being positive day and you will learned somethings.

It is interesting to follow the OANDA "price". I think that what we are
seeing as slips are just what happens when you trade with someone
(electronic or human) who is Making the Market. They are pushing the
(OANDA) market into places that it doesn't always end up going. The result
is "bad" fills. Really, it's probably just business as usual Market Maker
fills. Thats why LT has us just use FX Trade for charts only.

With Oanda you will get a much better quote accuracy and timing if you watch the order form and not the graph. The graph is always a split second late mostly due to the nature of Flash.
Whenever I'm getting ready to enter or exit the market I always go by the price on the market order and pull the trigger on that. If I respond as soon as I see the number instead of when the chart reflects it I get a much better response time.

Does that make sense?
I haven't compared it to other platforms though reguarding speed of price action.

Sometimes I get slipped in my favour. I do not think Oandians do it because they like me or dislike me.

Right! Just the nature of their platform (and business). Overall, probably
not in our favor though.

Oanda doesn't use (Adobe) Flash-charts; Java(-applet).

I'll will try watching the quotes and compare it with the chart; It does makes sense.

Can anybody tell me if you have any price differents using EFX and FXTrade Oanda chart?

Yes. You need to place your orders based on the quote screen, because
of the delay. It makes about a pip of difference. But even so...

I am slipped more times, too (x10 times in the last 7months). I am in total "up" 1,8 pips now.
Not they are your worst enemy.

routinely see them (apparently) pushing the market into a place a
few pips out from where it ends up going. Market Making, right?
Well, if you enter on breakouts this really often results in lousy fills.
But, if you enter on pullbacks then it can work in your favor.
Again: Just 2 pips worth from the NB! Maybe my understanding is
wrong. Maybe I should try it and actually see if it works before I
post. LOL

Has anyone heard much or have an update about the LT's proposed project involving a separate data feed and some sort of 10sec chart that helps rainbow scalpers enter a trade?

I'm not sure what to say other than I just watched the EJ move over 100 pips in the last hour or so and I only profited 11 pips.
I'm somewhat dissapointed in my self for not doing MUCH better than that.

I guess I think it's interesting when we talk about brokers--it seems traders tend to like one over the other, market maker vs ECN. But really, there are problems with both! Sure I get slipped on Oanda, but I've also gotten slipped on EFX--we don't live in a perfect world where orders are filled the exact millisecond I tap my mouse button. Sure I get spreads widening on Oanda (at news times and at various other times, but I have the same thing happen on EFX--I'll click the button when I see green (meaning 0 spread) and I'll get filled at 3pip spread (believe me, it's happened to me several times.) Unless I've got several million, I'll most likely have to deal with these inconsistencies. And even if I had several million and was able to buy my way onto a prime hub--there's still no rule that says I'm not going to slip myself by being late on the mouse button. I don't care what broker you go with, in the end you'll probably have problems--they may be yours, they may be the brokers...I guess I say this because it seems that forex traders more than others feel the grass is greener on the other side (broker, strategy, etc) and we will run to that lush green grass and find its just about the same. Now, granted, lest people take me wrong--I've been talking about two reputable brokers, Oanda and EFX--the less than reputable brokers don't even need to be mentioned--you will get your shirt taken with a bucket shop and it's enough to make any of us red faced...well, that's enough from me for today Live long and I hope you got the 70 some odd pips of TC's (trend continues) today...pk
