Tried to apply the recommended WMA's to a tick chart - comes out as a very thin ribbon - not v tradable IMHO - I am changing it to 5*WMA to mimic 5s chart more closely (ie 1 - 780) - wonder if anyone trades off tick charts? Settings? Post some pics maybe?
Sorry if this topic has been covered.

Hey!! another UK trader, I feel better now. I looked in to tickcharts a bit a while back, Im hoping the new EFX charting will have the option.

Did you try 10, 20, 30 -200? it should work fine on a tick chart!

i had used 2 tickchart, but the problem is on my software u didn't get a chart with a logarythmic time scale... sometimes a square is 2 minutes sometimes 3 minutes sometimes 1 minute depends on the tickvolume... thats a problem because u have not really good coordinate system to watch HV Lines... on several system u can change the price scale in horizontal lines each 5 pips... i found 5 sec is the best...

Nice!! that 80% return on your day.. well a bit less because of 1/3 comms.

What is your money management? it seems very aggresive isn't it?

And what is your position sizing. I expect not more than 12 lots (of 10k).

I'm with MBT too, and made 2.4% return for the day using 0.5% position sizing for each trades (3 big winners, 3 small losers).
I used to be schizophrenic, but now we are sane.

Hi!
In my experience, 30 - 200 on tick was equivalent to just the flame part of the 5sec rainbow.
Tick chart available via IGIndex if you have an account there.
Tried spreadbetting EJ?

Here is this european morning charts for the BP. The first is a 8 tick chart (it can be as fast as 1 sec or as slow as 30 sec...) and the same chart in 5 secs chart...

Tick charts are smother (as you know it does not plot useless bar during low action times...) and reduce a lot whipsaws but you lose the control of time.... like always there is a trade off !!!

Look how good the the 144 WMA provide support in the tick chart at +/- 11:30 to 12:00 PM ... u will never have gone short as probably the 5 secs chart would have signaled ...

Yes not good if you rely on V lines... I personally don't....The compression and expansion of the time line I assume is proportional to volatility and momentum, which, as an added dimension, may give a better 'feel' for the rainbow?. Don't know if that is true but would like to try.

Blazer,

Maybe I need to start getting up earlier...

The morning was actually pretty nice overall but around NY open it got a lot more choppy so I quit trading for the day. I don't trade choppiness since it compromises my ability to make a profit. Not as nice as yesterday of course, but there were still lots of trade opportunities.

for me its to see what happend in 5 minutes, this is a like a bar, so u can see if it is a engulfing, harami, doji, or something other, thats what the other see on chart... 5 minutes is a tradeable chart for candlesticks and bars...

i found the dimension time is very important, because many orders happend at first 1/5 of five minutes... and the candle and bar traders ever have to wait for closing of a candle...

Hello,

This is super agressive scalping,(133 trades and I am still trading)naked and with Linuxtroll advice to add more lots(10 lots/per ...) and aha moments.
I don't know if I can make it every day .We will see.

I feel what ur saying man. Sometimes I think that if I changed my SL's to TPs and traded the opposite direction I could make alot of money lol. All this is the reason the market exists as it is, not everyone can make money, and if they did there would be serious problems.
