Thanks Qpip for your quick production of the Supernova kit!! I'm now working between your posted settings and the templates to setup my charts. Not to be obnoxious and demanding, buuutttt, whenever you find time could you also post a text file that lists the correct matching of the expert and template with the different groups of AutoBots, SuperBots, and B&B currency pairs? Thanks for your help.

This thread is mind-numbing! I spent my whole WE reading it, and my head is still turning, seemingly like a few people here...
I had followed the supernova thread with great interest, but didn't really think the system could be automized, until now... Kudos to you guys for that.
It's very difficult to arrive on such a thread so late, but hey, that's life, so I have a few questions :
* First one on bot parameters : seems to me some work fine, some don't at all when I do the testing. For example, if I don't put stop, the system never goes out of a bad position... Is it possible? Did I miss something there? Can I suggest to post a little PDF with screeen shots on how you really translates your parameters into the bots? If you can explain briefly, I'm volunteering to do the PDF.
* Second one, and I'm very much walking on eggs there : I find the work that you guys are doing on parameters fascinating, but I'm a bit afraid you are slightly going into the overoptimization, curve-fitting side here... I'm sure you thought about this, and you have decided to proceed with full knowledge, hence my remark... I'd say for the system to be perfect it should work with the same params on all pairs (even if not optimally), and with fixed SL and TP (those can of course depend on the pair)... We can even imagine an autotuning feature that would change the params under certain conditions. But the fact that same params give very positive results on 1 pair and bad ones on another one strikes me a bit...
Anyway, just saying that as a way to prolong the discussion...

and once again a big THANK YOU and BRAVO for the work done here, it's really amazing what a bunch of people can do together...

Hello.

Ok. This just happened using the EA and it has confused me a little bit. I have the EA running and had it set to (stop & reverse = true) but as you can see the circle where the red ellipse is was not executed but where the yellow ellipse is located, the trade was then executed for the long? Is their a rule of thumb I need to follow when using this EA? Maybe I missed something when reading through this thread? Thanks

First of all thanks to you also for your appreciation of the work and fun!

To the problems you stated above:

- If the trade never hits a stoploss, it is ended by the QQE recrossing into the opposite direction. This is the last resort or line of defense. All tests are run with this safety measure at least. The pdf is an option for sure. I guess Qpip would be capable of putting things fast in her world famous tableaus with screenshots. But they may not be needed, as a backtesting screen can tell you a lot.

- You are completely off the eggs with your second question. You are right, that we are finetuning on quite a curvefitting level - but the QQE as the basic instrument is giving good signals in any circumstance the market is in. What we are trying to find is a more timely reaction to get out of a trade. The entries are sometimes late - but better a really confirmed entry than a bad trade after all - so they are not our problem.
We first have to dig into the nature of each pair as we have a major, several yen crosses and also "strange" crosses in the portfolio right now. As we catch the groove of each pair it is easier to keep it in touch with the market in future times (maybe by an autosetting/optimization or by handcrafted solutions ... we need to spend our time if we already make money with this!)
One of the first attempts (I guess it was post #70) shows, that there is already a basic setting that will work on all pairs likewise and will still yield a nice and stable pippage over long testing periods.

Back then I was running test since spring 2006 (and for confirmation for 12 months back March 2005), as this is the time that the behavioural changes in the market were showing first. So these basic settings are there and are backtested over longer TFs with minimal deviations to Qpips results that were presented here. I never took the pain to post these extralong tests, as they were only fully confirming the results - but I stated so in several of my posts on the forum and here.

So - all eggs are safe - very good question and an AAA justification for you to ask it as it shows that you have also worked your way through all the thread!

Hey Foo!

You open another platform and let the B&B bots run there, while the Autobots are running on the initial platform. That way they can run on the same account and never interfer!
So no need to let them run after another!

Leo, guess Qpip got a lot to do at her job today, so I guess she will get to your inquiery above in the following days.

Normally all templates are the same - the Supernova system tmeplate as posted here or in the main forum. Then you have the setting of the B&B bots amd the Autobots to start from.
You just take the values from the tableau and feed them into the Supernova EA v.2.0 and at best set up two platforms using the same account (as stated above).
If you have any problems setting up the EA please let us know. You would want to first get the template up and then load the EA. Please decide at one point or the other, whether you want to use the Supernova v2.x EA or the Supernova Glenn v1.5 from the main thread. The one the tests are pubished for here is meant for longer timeframes - the Glenn v1.5 carries the potential for also covering the smaller timeframes down to 5M!

I guess Lady Qpip will find something more to say in the process also. I will now leave for the night!!

Heyo Gnatcho,

Are you sure about the above? Is that the way you're set up?

I actually opened separate accounts and installed separate platforms for each of my "families" of bots. My understanding was that if you work from the same account, the different settings would interfere. But come to think of it it's probably not the case since they're running from different programs/platforms, just sucking the $$$ (and depositing later on hopefully) from the same "pot".

However, isn't it then quite complicated to sort out the account statement and attribute x trade to x group of bots?

The other thing I was wondering about is this. At work I have installed only one platform (it's already a sin, and I won't go to "work heaven" for that) and simply load 1 MT4 which has all the accounts there and I log into all my different accounts using the read-only password. That way, I can just click on either account to have it pop up and I can see where things are in a flash. But what I was wondering was what would (5 Ws in a row lol) happen if I logged in at work with the USER password and had the bot to "allow live trading". Mamamia I believe it would be a mess. Poor bots, I wouldn't be so cruel as to have them suffer such a nightmare.

Speaking of nightmares, I know you're asleep right now so hope you're dreaming of fields of golden pips growing in the warm sun heheh with butterfly pipsies flying in a multitude of pipsyful colours in the bright blue sky :

Hi there,

Not sure I understand what you're asking exactly, but there's no need to "match" the expert, I'm personnally only using one (the one on page one) (3 ones in a row now LOL). As for the template, you can use whatever you want, I think I put 2 in the zip, the original one with Heiken Ashi candles and then one I made myself with "normal" candles. If you load the latter, the ea will show up as I saved it with the bot on, so no need to separately load the ea for each pair.

And lastly, I've posted the whole host of settings just a few pages ago and all the information you need is there (pairs, timeframe, settings, etc.)

Maybe rephrase if I haven't answered correctly.

lol..I knew someone was going to refer to me as Hugh. Anyways, thanks for the help.

I notice on some of the setups the bot will take the trade when the MOM is crossing the line going down for a long and vice versa for a short.
Some of the trades stayed positive as MOM soon crossed back in the direction but doesn't this fault the system rules? Thanks again.

I mean are there possible to use MT4, and simulate its run forward while broker or server didn't run anyway, then we will use weekend very useful, and we can make forward test like real (& live) trading market ?

One said, backtest and forward test isn't same, especially while price move up and down ranging, the indicator where we almost use at 'closed price' will give not same figure, it cause we will got almost wrong signal to open or close trading.

Any idea for forward test with simulator and without wait the real live market ? If can, we will run with more speed then every tick as we seen on real market.

Just 2 cent though.

I guess you refer more to backtesting on the weekend, which is possible. You only have to make sure that you lock in the right spread in the late Friday session. I had a weekend I had to test with 14 pip spread on the GBPJPY - not too realistic!
It would be good to obtain or find a built208 version of the MT4 setup. Then we can go from there.

I am actually reading through the journal again. I feel that I need to refresh my memory in order not to let something drop by the roadsite and begone. There seems to be a lot that needs to be remembered and I sometimes mix thoughts from the journal & the forum and finally end up wondering whether this was waived, implemented or forgotten!
And one can read pretty fast, as one will remember what has been said in this or that context just by flying over it again!

Let's just hope that I can crack this and make it really profitable. But now, back to testing...
