I took the same trade at 23:20 based on S/R bounces and 1H trendline. My stop was at 50 and price got down to 52. Whew. I barely made it but got 20 while I slept....

I think that is one of my problems no matter what trading method I've tried -- stops too close.

yes you are right. It actually came close than i thought on a second look

For jpy i would suggest a bigger stop loss. Anything from 30-50 pips.

Yeah, I really can't believe it didn't take me out. So close. I just got lucky that time --er, I mean, I did it perfectly! Yeah, that's the ticket!

ok here is my take on the FOMC later today.

Senario 1:

Fed cuts interest rate by 0.25 point as everyone expects then the things will continue as like today. 0.25 is the consensus.

Scenario 2:

Fed cuts interest rate by 0.50 point then the dollar will gets hammered.

Scenario 3:

If Fed decides not to cut the interest rate then dollar might strengthen a bit only to be hammered again on friday with the release of Non-Farm Rolls


There will be lots of volatility around news time. So hang on to your seats and enjoy the ride.

here is a chart showing how the price respects fib levels. The fib extention levels are always good profit target levels. See how the price went up all the way to the 161.8% fib level

here is a nice short trade this morning on eur/usd

and here is a short trade followed a few minutes later by a long trade on gbp/usd

also see how the price respected the 38% fib level and then shot up. So you could have made more than 5 pips on this trade if you entered once the pin bar was broken to the upside

The blue vertical line is just my way of showing where the trade took place.

In almost all cases i wait for the SMA to cross over first. I like the candlestick to close to confirm the cross.

Then i wait for the ADX to rise above the 35 level. As soon as this happens i enter the trade

In this chart i would have entered somewhere between the 2 blue vertical lines cause that is where the ADX rose above the 35 level

Hey Ian,

I like your ideas, man. Just stumbled upon them right now, and went through the thread. Seems interesting. I'm not comfortable with your R:R of 1:4, but I like the idea of shooting for 5 pips. I'm going to mull this over in my mind for a little bit and see if there is a better option for me. Thanks for sharing with us.

Does this mean KHarvell's back on the scene?

Ian, I gotta hand it to you man. You took the call that everyone put to you in the other thread and are now showing how it can in fact be quite profitable stacking up lots of smaller but well calculated trades. It's good to see that there's more than just one of us "infernal day-traders" out there.

yes a few people seem to have a problem with 1:4 risk/reward.

But if you look closely you can see there is often more than 5 pips profit to be taken.

i took 12 trades yesterday at 5 pips per trade = 60 pips @ $100 per pip =
$6 000. And that only on the first day of november....there is 29 more days left to trade...lol

So i would agree that it is profitable to look for smaller profits

Good day Ian,

A slightly riskier trade as I don't believe this trade complied to all your rules?
Price was pretty close to that purple trend line of yours, which I would imagine to be support? Would it not have been better to at least have waited for a close below that support?
Would you care to elaborate on why you decided to enter this trade at that point?
