trading larger quantities is a mor concern. Oanda will more than likely flag my account, or slower fills (from what i hear) or variable spread +commision maybe you hit the button and get 0 spread or maybe it bounces to 3 pips+ commision. a lot of variables to consider when profits are being taken from you.

Fxsigma is onto something. I have experienced the slower fills from Oanda first hand.

I spent one week trading eur/jpy using less than 8,000 units per trade. At least 80% of my orders were filled at the price I wanted, or even better.

I then spent one week trading eur/jpy using less than 30,000 units per trade. This time around, only 40% of my orders were at my price.

I am afraid to see what happens at 100,000 units per trade.

A potential strategy is to split your large orders into separate smaller ones.

I don't know about anyone else using EFX but I am getting really sick of paying commissions and also 2 pip spreads on EUR/JPY.

Does anyone else feel the same?

yes but are the rewards of paying commission greater then paying a standard fixed spread. how is EFX fills, compared to Oanda's? that .5 pip or even 1 pip slippage makes a Massive impact on the bottom end. especially if your loading up 6-10 standard lots going for 6 pips. I'm sure everyone could go round and round. But a solution? Seeing real comparison numbers on Trades taken, slippage with EFX same style slippage volume etc.. any thoughts?

Keep in mind Currenex isn't a broker. Currenex is a trading platform that brokers can give access to. It typically costs quite a bit more than $5K too. A Currenex account with a broker can often require a deposit upwards of $50K.

I think it depends on market conditions. Some days I get filled slower than others. On some days I can close my order and the transacation goes through instantly, and on other days it lags for a bit and I get 'slipped' because the market moves while my order is still open.

so overall under average market conditions would a fixed spread knowing exactly in/out your costs are or clicking a button in hopes of getting 0-1 spread+ the going rate for commision?

my issue with efx at the moment, is if for any reason I disconnect or get disconnected from EFX, I get holes in the chart, not to mention I have been getting spikes in my charts. so historical data is an issue, i dont like oandas chart because the java is just too friggin slow. right now I am using EFX/Ninjatrader for charts and execute trades on my mt4 broker.

for those of you using ninja just for the charts i found an obvious solution and wow you kind of feel dumb afterwards.
for those of you using EFX for live trading you may or may not want to use this.

set up a new connection using Gain (forex.com) for user and password just leave it blank. you will be asked if you want to use ninja or gains feed, and right now I would recommend to use gains because ninjas feed is fed by gain anyways, so there may be a delay.

the positive of doing this is that gain will back fill up to 24 hours of data so your chart will not have holes in it if you get disconnected.

edit: forgot one thing
for your charts select currency not stock like you did with EFX and then enter the pair EURJPY notice i did not enter the "/"

check out LT's post on button trader, in a nutshell thats how the DOM works, click the entry place your exits, a bunch of the buttons and list boxes give you a description when you hover the mouse over them. FYI I don't use it since I do not have a live account, and I do not have a paid subscription to ninjatrader, without that you can not place trades in the DOM. some brokers however do offer ninjatrader as part of their package.

the DOM works too?? I couldnt get it to work other than to have MBT nav open, thats the only way i could trade.
