I've coded up a couple of indicators which place symbols or textboxes above/below pricebars. Because the text objects or symbol buffers are placed using a price, the appearance is rather sloppy. If I display the objects a couple of pips above/below the bar, it shows up fine for 5 minute charts but overlaps the pricebar on higher timeframes. Adding more pips means it displays better on the higher timeframes, but is off the screen on the intraday charts.
To complicate matters, when there's a larger range displayed on the screen, MetaTrader automatically adjusts pips per pixel causing sloppy display regardless of how much I've adjusted.
Is there a way to place a text object precisely x pixels above/below a pricebar or do I have to live with what I've got?
