EY only managed to go 11 pips above the previous Daily High, so I'm kinda puzzled now... How did you manage to get 45 pips of profit on this pair?

P.S. I'm using Daily Highs/Lows; Daily candle closes at 18:00 EST
I think I read somewhere that the high/low calculations cover the previous 17 hours and not the full previous 24 hours. That may give you the difference. I have been using Primers daily 95 bars indicator and this uses the previous 24 hour high and low and this gave me EURJPY -90 USDJPY NT and EURUSD 95

I tested this on AUD/USD back one year, and it ended with a few dollars left in the account... What am i doing wrong?

I might be an idiot, but this strategy looks fucked up when i backtest it. Not one currency pair gains money... I don't understand what I am doing wrong, or how I get all three stop losses activated at one time.

I have an spreadsheet for that - Problem is I cannot always be at my trading computer at the time to do the calcs and place the orders. For me, the EA would give me the opportunity to trade this system daily instead of occasionally...
What is the point in going back manually and doing it? your going to have EA execute the trades anyway, so it has to backtest to a profit. and the fact is that it doesn't, it will clear out your account within 8 months according to my backtest.

New version of EA is ready.
I have finally fixed problem with using EA for multiple pairs.
Additionally, I have added trailing stop feature and possibility to adjust break-even move.

Below I'll describe new settings, for others look for description in post #541 (http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost...&postcount=541).

UpdateToBE - number of pips in profit, when stoploss is moved to break-even point, e.g. when set to 15 - stop loss will be moved to opening price after reaching 15 pips profit. If you want to move SL to b/e when first take profit is taken, set to the same value as TakeProfit1 setting. The same goes for TP2, TP3.

UseTrailingStopOnLastOrder, TrailingStop - these are tricky ones
When UseTrailingStopOnLastOrder is set to false, there will simply be no trailing stop for last order So take profit will be taken at the value of TakeProfit3. TrailingStop setting value is insignifficant in this case.
When UseTrailingStopOnLastOrder is set to true, trailing stop will be activated when order reached TakeProfit3 pips value. Trailing stop value is then equal to TrailingStop setting value.
Example:
We have TakeProfit3=50, UseTrailingStopOnLastOrder=true, TrailingStop=20.
Let's assume that buy orders were opened at the price of 1.2350. At the level of 1.2400 we'll have 50 pips of profit (for simplicity of this example spread is not taken into account). From now on, whenever price goes up, stop loss for last order will be moved to 20 pips below actual price. For example, let's take such sequence:
1) price - 1.2400, sl - 1.2380
2) price - 1.2405, sl - 1.2385
3) price - 1.2402, sl - 1.2385
4) price - 1.2407, sl - 1.2387
5) price - 1.2405, sl - 1.2387
etc.

EAMagicNumber - for advanced users only. It is a random number generated for this EA. Change is when using other EAs for the same account and they happen to use the same magic number (very unprobable). There's no need to change this value for different pairs - EA attached to a chart will only manage orders with magic number equal to EAMagicNumber setting and symbol correstponding to this chart.

I read this thread a while ago but didn't realize there was an EA being made.

I have 3 computers dedicated to forward testing and an FTP server that I can have forward tested results auto-updated to through MT4, so statements are easy to check in real time with a bookmark.

Thanks to Pr1mer for the continuted programming for all of us unspoken viewers of this thread. I have been trying to backtest the strategy on Metatrader, and the results are always negative and don't match up with my manual backtesting of the strategy. I am setting the period to H1 and leaving all other settings at their default. Also, I live in the Pacific time zone, so what should my settings be for the day start hour if my broker open/closes the trading day at 2 PM PT, 5 ET? Thanks again for all the work on this thread.
This is going to be a complicated EA to backtest. Every broker has a different time zone, you need to understand what time zone your broker is in in relation to EST 5:00.

Once you have that setting correct. You cannot test for more than 6 months at a time with that setting. DAYLIGHT SAVINGS!! The broker time in relation to your time may change twice a year. Being aware of this you might have to only backtest 6 months at a time and add the results together somehow.

I just don't understand why the EA backtest keeps comming back extremely negative, I have the timezone correct, even in one month intervals it comes back negative.
yes, but if every single currency ends negative then it shouldn't matter.

Are we supposed to use 5pm EST as the time for all currency pairs or just JPY pairs? That may make a huge difference.



Time frame also seems to affect it, when i back tested the USD/JPY for this week I was positive but at different levels on each time frame.
Back test results on USD/JPY for this week.

up 172 pips on the four hour time from 72 pips on the 1 hour time frame.
up 88 pips on the 15 minute time frame.
up 32 pips on a 1 minute time frame.
up 404 pips on a 5 minute time frame

I guess it is impossible to use EA to backtest this because of how to acts in the real world.
Let the forward testing commence. I got a bad headache trying to figure out timezones vs brokers at 2am last night for my alpari data. Will try again today.

I'm a bit confused about the time setting

DayStartHour - hour in your time zone that starts the forex day

If I am using IBFX who is at GMT even with the DST change and I am in EST what am I going to use for the daystarthour??? 8 for the US open??

If I ever get over this hurdle then forex life will get a whole lot easier

First I would like to say that this is a great thread. It has taken me a couple of days to digest all of the information and come to grips with the logic of this system. I would also like to say that Pr1mer is one of the best programmers I have ever met in one of these forums.

Having said that I would like to offer the following. I only use IBFX for my demo trading and have had a lot of experience with them.

If you are using IBFX you will need to set your DayStartHour to 21.The IBFX demo server is currently on EST+4 hours.

The second problem with IBFX is that they do not start their trading day on Sunday until 18:00 EST. Using the Expert for this system will not generate any trades for the Sunday/Monday session since it is set to put in the orders at 17:00EST. I have made a change to the expert to take this into account.

Also, when using IBFX, you will only look back 16 bars for the Sunday/Monday session buystop and sellstop orders since there is an hour missing with their 16:00 EST close on Friday and their 18:00 EST open on Sunday.
I have altered the expert to take this into account as well.

Please be advised that the expert that I have attached is the .04 current version of Pr1mer's expert with changes that only work with IBFX. It must be attached to your chart and active Sunday @ 18:00 EST - 18:59 EST to get the first days trades set.

I would like to close by saying that if Pr1mer does not want anyone altering his/her programming, please let me know and I will not post any changes again. His/her programming knowledge is far superior to mine and I would not want to offend him/her in any way.

Well, this is the first day that i am trying new EA, and here are my observations. For some reason it bought double orders on usd/chf pair, not sure why,(but it needs to be checked into - if its a profit its great, but when its a loss, its a double one and that sucks!) i have it attached only to one of them. I did not change any settings on it. It started out with 0.2 lots and on the last currency it bought 0.1 lot, so that part is working good. So far all in all i am $135 up - 75 pips, so lets see what tomorrow will bring
