Hi Cryten and Wolfeman I am using Supernova EA (glenn) v1(1).3a there is no magic number input available on the EA ? also can someone tell me how you change what time frame you run the EA off, do you just put it on a 1Hr chart and it will then run as a 1hr EA?? Thanks

Morse, yeah we can hear you!!

Yes! Just do that! And please do not shout. If you use the Glenn EAs, please make sure that you use a virgin chart - means completely new! No historically used charts on MT4. Maybe that will help!
It is definitely not your broker, as Qpip is also with MIG. Your problem is not so easy to solve from a logical standpoint. So please use v211 or v208 of MT4 and delete the old charts and build up new one!

I provided the updated indicators with the alerts for people trading this system manually, and I said that I will never use the EA because I don't want to use MT4 brokers... but I couldn't resist the EA any longer after reading the positive results here, so I started testing...

(1) There seems to be a bug, though I'm surprised nobody else has noticed so I'm not sure if it's happening only for me. I'm using Glenn's EA (from the zip in post 1), and selected for Exit the QQE, DMI, and CCI. I believe that the EA should just wait for ONE of those to reverse, and then it will close the trade, but it's definitely not closing when QQE reverses. It also seems that sometimes it doesn't exit when CCI reverses... Is anybody else experiencing either of those problems?

(2) I know there was a problem with Damiani in the past, apparently the problem is now fixed (somebody wrote that). It certainly seems to be working fine for me with Damiani active for entries. But I read that people have requested that Damiani is not included in future versions of the EA (send it into the ocean). In that case, I suggest that another filter is added to prevent entries during ranging markets, eg. the Juice indicator that I posted works well. I believe it is very important to have a filter for periods when the market is ranging, otherwise there will be many more bad entries outside of the most active trading hours. By having a filter against ranging, you can leave the EA running almost all day and let it take advantage of the big moves that often occur unexpectedly during off-hours, without risking entering a market that has no strong active trend.

ps. I think Damiani looks much better with the threshold setting at 1.1, just my observation...

(3) I've seen it mentioned various times that Glenn's EA doesn't use magic numbers, but in the list of 'changes coming soon' it doesn't say that magic numbers will be added. I think that these would be a helpful addition, especially for cooperating with other EA's that manage exits...

Anyway, it seems to be a great EA, but I really need to figure out why it's not reliably exiting trades on QQE and CCI reversals...

Here's an example of how Juice just saved me from a potentially bad trade, see the image below :

Every day I look for trades on GBP/JPY between 9:05AM to 9:30AM TOKYO TIME, because my manual backtesting has shown that it can be a good time to enter. Entering on the 9:00 bar is too early because often the direction can reverse during the first 5 minutes of trading, so I wait to make sure the 9:00 bar is a continuation of the previous action, and then enter at 9:05 if all indicators agree. Today at 9:00AM (remember, I'm referring to Tokyo time) the Heiken Ashi bar was blue and above T3, QQE had crossed upwards, DMI blue was up, Momentum was up, and the green Juice bar was above the orange threshold. However I resisted temptation and waited for the 9:05 bar, and at that time Juice dropped below the orange bar - you can see this where I drew the yellow arrow in the image. This indicated that the market was no longer trending, even though everything else looked fine. Sure enough, the Heiken Ashi bars soon reversed color and dropped into the T3.

Juice doesn't always work as perfectly as that. In fact after I created the image above, the direction reversed again and the price starting rising so perhaps the trade would have been fine (depending on SL, TP, etc.) but in general I have found Juice to be very useful for avoiding ranging markets.

I do think Damiani Volatmeter can also be good for avoiding ranging market conditions (especially if the threshold is adjusted, eg. 1.1 seems good to me) but it's slower to react to changing conditions since it's a smoothed line, whereas Juice displays each bar individually and so it's more accurately displaying the current conditions... although Juice is also partially 'smoothed' and that's why it can seem to respond a little late sometimes. No way to avoid that though, without reducing it's overall accuracy.

I dabbled with Juice in this system as can be an awesome indicator for EUR/USD but on GBP/JPY i found the pair had so much action the indi was constantly juiced lol

Will need to have another look now

Matrix: Nice system, thank you. It only has one step, I see. Compare it with the others that have several steps and give me your impression.
My main interest is to stop losing trades, even it is for a handful of pips.
It is nice that you have experience with this one. Give us an example of settings that you use.

Jin: I like the looks of Juice. I agree that Damiani looks best on settings of 1.1, but the darn thing was jamming up the EA, so that it took no trades at all. I wonder if it requires that one enable DLL inputs on the common tab?
I have not tried that. I , also, love the idea of letting the EA run around the clock, catching the big waves. The little waves will zap you.
Chat with Cryten and Gnat and Awesome, et. al, to see if Juice is the way to go. If we can reach a consensus soon, I think Sky will gladly add it to the chest of tricks. We could also use an older version of Damiani, which is not EX4, methinks. Please send Skyline a PM about the magic numbers. They may be essential for the trailing stop system we settle on.
I am using entry: QQE/DMI period 7; MOM/ CCI for entry
Exit: QQE/DMI/MOM/CCI. It seems that CCI always triggers first.
I am getting nice entries and exits with these settings.
The CCI has been good for earlier entries than T3 and great exits, thanks to FinnFX.

Morse: My SL is 50; TS 35; TP: zero.
Damiani and Volume off.
Hours 8-16;
Blanca suggested QQE of 5. I think she may be right. I am using that.

Sure no problem, I used it on EUR/GBP using another EA with a TS of 14 because usually that currency may go 10-15 pips then retrace before going back in my favor so setting it at like 8 would enable TS to early which would usually cause my trade to close at breakeven or +1 or +2 pips but that was a different system.
Anyway these are the settings I used and remember all you need to do is attach it to only one chart instead of every chart currency you use for it to do its magic;
- AllPositions = True; // When set to true this will modify all open trades on the current account. When set to false it will only modify trades on the attached chart.
- ProfitTrailing = True; // When set to true this will only modify trades that are in profit. When set to false it will modify trades in profit as well as trades that are in loss.
- TrailingStop=14; // Minimum is 5
- ProfitTarget=0; // When set to 0 the Expert works as a trailing stop loss expert. When a value higher than 0 is given, existing stop losses are cleared from your account and the expert will close all trades and take the desired profit when it has been reached on the account. Takes total profit including swap.
- TrailingStep = 1; // Checks and modifies trailing stop loss after this number of pip movements.

Hello everyone,

I hope everybody's having a great day/night/afternoon/morning. It will be Friday in 50 minutes here in Florida and I'm off from work able to trade tomorrow session. It will be good because after November 16, I will not be able to trade for two months (but may consider Sundays) because I have to go to a training for my job in Georgia. I wish they would have waited after the holiday's but I will be home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. This is exactly why I want to become a very successful self employed forex trader. I see the E.A. is starting to do good things, that's good news. I'm still blown away about this system and may never get over it. Well traders start your engines for the coming session. Nofx and I plan on trading live together though the Yahoo messenger if anyone else is willing to join us just post and we can go from there. I know it will be fun to see how other trader's are thinking and using and will also keep us awoke LOL.

your time of 9-16, what time is that exactly, because I think the brkr server time may effect that setting.

How are you today?

As you know I trade manually and I'm always changing things to better the system to my personality.

I was using pivot points to determine if the market was going to be a buy or sell day and as of last week and this week really taught me that I did not have to use the daily pivot to determine that. If I may add that it is very useful, but I decided it's not for me. I truly like the KUMO support and resistance areas to determine exiting trades. I use all the indicators posted
on Post #1. I'm also testing a few things that I will discuss later if I find it worth posting (based on performance). That's it my friend, very easy..

I always felt that manually trading this system was extremely easy the hard part is getting out. Once you find the best way to determine to exit the sky is the limit.

I was just thinking about that these days. I was thinking more about windows messenger, but the idea is the same. Create a chat, where everyone can say what they think about the market-pairs with this system, and see how it goes.

So I've got the latest EA going and the exits are set for QQE an CCI. I have two open positions from 24 hours ago, and no exit. I have 2 G/J positions because after the fist one opened I went to look at the 4HR chart, when I came back it opened another long 10 min. after the first one. I just let them go, to see where they would exit and they still haven't! I don't really care because it up $1300, but it would be nice to see an exit (kinda the whole idea I reckon). Guess I'll close 'em manually and start with a fresh chart at 8GMT, see if that fixes it.

Does anyone else have experience with changing a chart after a trade has been opened, and had something like this???
