EFX charges you $10 per standard lot round trip, while Interactive Brokers charges $4. Does this make sense?
Even $4 is a lot if you scalp. You end the day with more than $100 in comissions to pay very easely.

In addition, IB offer the BookTrader, a nice ladder with the prices, very good to enter orders and watch the price move.

Only problem with them, very complicated platform, But you get used to this and you enjoy it after the first month.

from IB website, the minimum commission for each order is $2.5. So in order to take advantage of this low rate, one needs to trade at minimum 1 full lot (100k) every trade.

that is correct. There is no difference with EFX if you trade 50k and less. But in scalping, because of tight stoplosses, you trade bigger lots. So commission does matter. 10 bucks commission per lot is a robbery, IMHO.

From what I know EFX Group is just an IB for MB Trading. I do not understand why would anyone signup with them and pay higher commision than at MB Trading.

EFX is a currency trading arm of MB trading. As far as the commision difference, there is none.

Yes, on E/U and E/Y. Not sure what Linustroll meant when he said, "They do have spreads <= 0... during active market times... adjust your spread meter values..."
But I try to watch until it is either 0 or 1 pip.

Adjust the spread meter to show green when spread is less than zero and watch how many times you get green...

VERY well said FXsurfer! Concentrate on BookTrader, its easy, you see bid/ask orders in volume waiting to be filled, you can bypass them, the ladder is telling a lot about the trend, very rewarding.

Anyway you cant compare Ferraris with Hundais..-)

From the looks of the price fluctuation that I'm seeing on their
Demo I'll need something to keep me on the road! Is that for real?
If so, how can we trade 5 sec.? Even "slow" pairs like E/U are all
over the road!

:surprised

A/J looks very good on the EFX spread meter! Could you keep us posted
on how it's going with this pair? I'm sticking to the advice of following
one pair at a time. E/J for me. 0 spread is tougher to get, from the
looks of it but 1 pip is very frequent (plus commission, of course).

Thanks!

FXS

BTW: Spreads ,commision and execution all look THE BEST on IB.
(remember though: I'm a NB!) But, the Demo is simulated from past data
somehow. I really haven't figured out the data price stucture yet
with them. The prices are different than EFX and OANDA on E/J.
Do I have to throw down 5K just to see if I like them live?
If so, I may be starting with EFX first .

Some times when Eur/jpy and Gbp/Usd are not moving much.. this is moving a lot and the spread and cost of the comision is very good..Just look at it once in a while...
