50 SMA is used for possible support and resistance, price also tends to cluster around it before continuing or starting a new direction

By the way..if you consider SMA 50 line...you should have a look at this...same chart as you Gnat/ KRYTEN

SMA 50 HI and SMA 50 LOW...both act as a S/R ...visual back test this :-)

I was tought:
A short will be short only after breaks the lower SMA50 ( SMA 50 Low)
A long will be a long trend only after the price breaks the upper 50 ( SMA 50 High)

in this chart you see how it bouce back from 50 lower...
if you visual check this just like you said, there are a lot of bounces from both this lines...


P.S. I think is Kryten actually....can you give me please the fib line indicator that you have?...mine is a fiboPiv_v2...and do not quite match yours :-)

see my last 2pics and check the price stop and reverse at those 2 red lines in my pics (your fibo :-)?) it matches the Low SMA 50 from the H4 time frame :-)

I'm almost done testing gbpusd (30 min and 1H) and will post results shortly.

In the meantime, these numbers keep bugging me. That's the really bad results I got a while back on the very short TFs (here 5 mins). These are for dot-to-dot. Using filters was also bad, but a bit less.

Initial capital was $10,000 and tests were from jan 1 to aug 31 2007. Have a look.

As you can see, they're all in heavily negative territory, with cadjpy having the least catastrophic fate @ $ -4642.97 and thus still surviving after 8 months along with a few others still hanging on, and then there's chfjpy, gbpusd, audjpy and gbpjpy completely dead, out of cash, bit the dust, gone with the wind @ approx. $ -9936.76 on average.

Of course, if we could get "rid" of them NEGATIVE signs, all would be well (and VERY well indeed). So here's what I'm thinking. I'm going to go play with the code, see, and have the bots do the reverse danse, ie: blue dot = sell and pink dot = buy (sounds weird) and see what happens .

I do like the 50 sma as dynamic supp & resistance. i don't use any indicator as the gospel but there are some which help to show me what price MIGHT do.

yap..I look to them to see only what it MIGHT do :-) or where it MIGHT reverse etc :-)

I got this a while back. Not sure how it works as my interest in fibs isn't that great at the moment, but it might help.

Special testing for re-entering GBPUSD into the shorter TFs

Without filters, this pair had very bad results for all shorter TFs. With filters, the least loss (best result) was -7 pips on the 30m TF.

So this is the TF I tested (modelling quality = 90%)


No SL we get -7
With SL=55 we get an extra 18 pips, so we’re now at +11 pips/mth
The trailing peaked around @ 11 pips, so no gains here
DMI: both 10 and 7 were tested, with lower results than 14. So keep that one at default 14.
The MOM is the interesting one. I quickly noticed gbpusd didn’t behave like the yen pairs, where lower MOMs were gaining pips. And when I got to higher values, it started to “pip up” and peaked at MOM=43 for another extra +145 pips. So we went from –7 to +163 pips/mth

I also did the tests on the 1H but its best was +157.

I then proceeded to add this pair to the “optimal short tf” table and noticed that the monthly balance was now getting pretty close to that for the higher time frames, and I only have 7 shorter tsf (as opposed to 8 for the longer ones).

And then I realized:

1) 2 pairs have BETTER results in the shorter tf (with new filters) than on the longer tfs
2) I need to re-do the tests on ALL pairs with new filters for longer tfs
3) Select which of the 2 is optimally optimal
4) Merge everything into a single table.
