Guaranteed an exit? There's no such thing as guranteed stops, despite what some bucket shops are saying. MBT is not a bucket shop; please don't get me wrong, but if the price gaps through your stop, you'll get the next available price after the orders that are ahead of you. This is the way it works with every market. If the market gaps, the broker does not eat your loss.

@opie: Oanda doesn't offer trailing stops due to technical limitations.

If they would do it on the client side, there would be many complainers if the Java application freezes. If they would do it on the server side, the workload on Oanda's servers would just kill them.

So in both cases, Oanda would get many complaints. So they just don't do it.

i really like mbt's simple trailling stop. but should i be worried about hte NFA capital requirement? i really thought mbt was a bigger company.

As far as trailing stops at Oanda,..... I would like to see them but they certanly are not a nessessity.
Even Jacko trails his stops manualy, so I just check my charts about every 15 minutes or so and adjust my stops then.
Also if you use Oanda's API you can program in your own trailing stops.

Ive just watched a near perfect entry turn into a scratch since oanda decided to delay the price feed on the euro by 8 pips. Unbelieveable!

how was this varified? was it during news? this is way too vague to accept without something to back it up..... not saying it can't happen just saying show me the proof.

I agree with you. It will help others when the details are explained - but I don't think it was news related. He's in the UK (so he's sleeping) and I have Skyped him to explain things. I will not disclose anything on him though, as I have not been authorized to do so.

I understand and agree, he is the one that needs to amke the disclosures.
It does however appear there have been some java problems, when I used windows I would have the occasional sluggesh responses and various other meltdowns, he needs to check his operating system, windows is notoriuos for loading up its memory and caches and becomeing slow and unresponsive,
all I can say is I have never experianced what your friend describs with Oanda.....also there can be alot of bounces between him and the Oanda servers which can cause delays, but like I said before it is possible there was a fault at Oanda...

I agree. Let's wait for him to reply; but it won't be the first time I see something like this happen. As I have mentioned before, I know a few other very experienced traders I know who have experienced problems as well in the past; traders I have worked with and trust (and the problems were not technical in nature). Anyway, let's see what he comes back with.

Right, ive got four price feeds from four seperate sources excluding oanda, one of which is of of an ECN exchange (dukascopy) from which I watch all the time so i can spot delays and give me clues as to price movement. I wasnt imagining it. I saw the price spike up and hold over two one minute candles ON ALL THE OTHER FEEDS, with my entry just sitting there doing nothing on oanda. After the fun had finished price came back down and I had to scratch the trade for a BE. Later on, it was getting to a busy period and I was chipping through trades pretty fast since the market was moving quite nicely. Every time I entered a trade, within seconds my platform logged me out mid trade! Im trying to scalp so having to log in whilst a trade is running multiple times is ridiculous. This happened nearly TEN times in the period after, which is not an exaggeration. Despite all this, I had a really good day, but had I not had had this problems it would have been a great day!

In fairness out of all the other retail brokers Ive tried, oanda is the best of the bunch. The fractional lots for position sizing is great and the 1 pip euro spread is good too, but to say that the feeds arent delayed somewhat to their advantage is silly. Ive seen the feeds differ to varying extents before and two pips is jsut about acceptable, but after seeing it happen so badly yesterday i cant really just ignore it and say they're fantastic.

Avenger, I have seen this happen to another trader (who is currently part of our team) in the past; not just at Oanda, but at other retail shops as well. Some people here imply that Oanda does an auto pass-throught of all orders. I bet my left nut this isn't so, or else why wouldn't they just become an ECN. If you're going to pass everything through, a having dealing desk doesn't make much sense, does it?
