We all learn the hard way. My first trade was £10 per pip on the DOW and £20 per pip on the DAX, which converts to about 6 lots in total without a stop. I made about £1500 that day but then things slowly started to go down hill.

I was an investor for many years and the money I used to trade was investment profit so initially as a trader I gave back the market some of what I had taken. However, some people risk way too much of their own money and in one case I know someone who lost 90% of their home.

I forget the trader's name.. who shorted the stock markets during the 1920s crash. He made a $100 million (lot of money now.. and even more back then!) After that he lost everything, and finally committed suicide.

Just shows how easy it is to make money, and even easier to lose it all and more.
