I decided to test the original bago set up using MAs of 5 and 12, but kept the RSI using 5, with buy-sell condition of 53-47 and not using RSI for exit.

Do I want to ask him in the case that the cross of EMAS of 5 and 12 is not at the time with the cross of RSI on it lines her of 50, do how many veil you can take to consider the signal been worth?

FOMC and its aftermath captured my attention most of the week but the EA ended on high note. Like Jon [jmf0805] said, "some days good..." Please ignore large transaction at cursor; that's not produced by Bago EA.

Attached chart depicts one major barrier to consistent profits.

Between 09:45 and 12:15 (all times CET), USD/JPY entered three trades. The first two trades hit TP netting 46 pips, while the last trade exited on 5/12 cross (consistent with Bago rules) yielding a negative 24 pips. Two winners out of 3 trades for net 22 pips.

The EA often enters a series of trades during a trend and generates profit. For example, between 10:15 and 12:15 GBP/JPY entered five profitable trades for five winners and a net 115 pips. But from time-to-time, when the trend reverses, the EA can get stuck in its original direction as depicted in the USD/JPY example above.

While you can always manually close the EA, or avoid the yen pairs, the question is how to tweak the EA to avoid that reversal and giving back those pips? My goal is to allow the EA to trade overnight so manual closure isn't an option at 11:15 CET (5:15 am est). And the yen CAN trend!

I think one answer is by increasing the TP, SL and BE+ numbers to the higher values typically assigned when trading yen pairs. Given TP=100, SL=100 and BE+20, after a 50 pip move you'd capture 20 pips while moving toward TP with a revised SL of 30 along the way. As long as your trade moves toward TP, EA won't open another trade in that direction, and at worse case a reversal may stop out the trade with 20 pips profit. If the trade continues and hits TP followed by reversal in the next candle, EA will take profit but won't open another trade in the original direction. Alternatively, the EA stops out when 5/12 cross or RSI 57-43 or in worst case scenario trade hits SL.

That's my ramble for the month. I'll keep you posted. Trade well and prosper.

Your point about news is well taken. That's why I revised the code to include a pause for news or pause for whatever reason deemed significant by the trader.

I'm not sure whose settings you're "forward testing". Standard Bago trading rules employ EMAs of 5 and 8, sometimes 12. Why are you using 22? Can you explain what these parameters will produce? For example, when do you expect the EA to enter trades? On what condition(s) will the EA exit trades? Why is Magic set at 444?

thats for your reply the magic number is just to separate the other test so they dont get mixed up, i.e different magic numbers for each pair and TF

i took the latest ea i could find and modified, it must have been wrong, please send me a .set you think is wrth testing, thanks

Im going to combine this system with TEB3's system by checking the 5/12 MA cross's on the daily the 4hr and then trade on the 30min when all Timeframes are in agreement.

Will post results.

You cannot test something you do not understand.

After reading your code, I asked you questions to determine if you understand how the EA works. Clearly, you understand how magic numbers work but it is also clear you do not understand Bago, nor do you understand how the EA works. Because if you understood Bago and the EA, then you would know what to modify. For example, if you understood Bago, you would know that since the beginning bago used 5/12 EMAs which evolved to 5/8 EMAs or SMAs. None of the latest EAs use 22 EMA.

I recommend you read and study the first ten pages of this thread so you can understand how Bago works. Then read and study from 26 July 2007 starting with my post #2647 on page 177 to present day so you can understand how the EA works. That reduces 13 months of reading to 2 months; many questions will be answered. Once you understand Bago and the EA, you can then modify and test it to your heart's delight.

Good idea. If memory serves, I believe Renasdad followed a similar approach with timeframes perhaps last year? He used Vegas with Bago. If you haven't done so already, you may want to review his comments and journal posted in the early days of this thread, around 30 August 2006, post #18 on page 2 (approximately ).
