looks like good to short. He is playing retracement on these pairs. watch out if you are playing long. good luck.

I'm not doing that so kindly don't generalize and make conclusions with such certainty despite your evident in-conversancy on the matter or my trade style.

"Watch out" - are you insinuating that i'm misleading people in some way or advising them falsely, what the h*** is that supposed to mean ?

In fact, can you explain to me what the point of your post was at all, apart from a trivial attempt to disrespect my efforts here ?

Absolutely ridiculous...

Well, regardless of the last few posts, I for one have enjoyed following this thread 1000% and I hope it continues on.

This is an excellent and simple system.

I believe Diallist answered a post on this thread the other day that cleared up the speculation as to, "how did you know?".

You don't.

It's a matter of probablility. Saying it looks to be a good short is still just speculation until the market pipes in with it's opinion. If the system indicates an entry and all indicators line up, then as a trader you either trust the system or don't. The GBP/JPY is capable of RETRACING 200 points or more on any given day....so more power to ya if you grab some!

well 2 4hr trades today with this system and both have done well. I closed my last trade out for 51 points. both trades were in gbp/jpy.. I closed the last one out due to rsi under 50. Not sure if this is the thing to do but thought it may be better for me too lock it in..

effilang, what significance if any do you put toward a trade where it is under the 50rsi and then hits the 50rsi and falls under? I ask this question as this is why I dropped my last position. Granted the set-up is not a 4hr set-up with the 50 ema... Not trying to dig into your other systems and if you wish not to answer I understand.. This is new too me and so this is why I ask.

Hmm.. Thats a tough one.

I would consider it resistance or support and i can expect the price to correct but on a minor scale.

EG. If You have an impulse wave, then the price corrects and within that correction the price corrects; the point at which the price corrected on the minor level would be a bounce of the RSI normally, after which it would impulse in the same direction on the minor level.

During all this on the major impulse level, this all seems like the candle just pulled back significantly, but didn't correct.

I'm not sure if that made any sense, you need to take a look into Elliot Wave and S/R and Dow Theory, i think that would make things clear.

If i can say it in another way, i consider pullbacks like that off of the RSI to be corrections within an impulse wave, which are normally followed by an impulse wave in the prevailing direction of the movement.

Thats how i look at it.
Rarely is RSI, if not ever the reason why i exit a trade, it may complement other feedback i have from the chart by defining momentum or trade direction, but i would never fully exit a trade based on something like that.
I'd look more towards S/R and impulse and corrective waves, HHs HLs, LLs and LHs.

E. Lang

I see well we live and learn. Anyway I'm happy with this trade. Now this EW thing opens another can of worms. I was a thinking the daily chart just completed abc and currently in a flat range and so should this be the case direction from larger time frame is unclear?

Here is me chart study off 1hr chart. I'm a thinking the downtrend is still intact. Notice the lower highs and lower lows. This flags a caution IMO.. This makes me wonder if this is just a retrace?

Last chart and me done. I'm seeing some market structure and I've placed a bear-bull line in. Current chart looking only at price shows trigger short with stop just over last bump. Should this be a retrace one might expect a retest of lows. Not saying this is what will happen but the structure is taking place. With a trade like this you no your wrong when price pops stop.

Effi,
My sincere thanks for your system and signals. I have only been trading your signals for a day but have pocketed several hundred dollars already even with the one miss. 16 and 3 is an incredible achievement (hell I'd have been happy with 16 and 8) I am starting to feel comfortable enough with the system to strike out on my own.

respectfully
Jimbop

Hi Effi,

How do you catch up in cases where the prices are trending upwards and is staying there for a while. Waiting for it to fall back back to the EMA's for any signal seems endless (methaphorically speaking). Where and when do you get in? I have attached a chart file and encircle the case that may be. Please fill in your inputs. Thanks.

Best regards,

REY

You have 3 choices I think...

1. Wait until the price hits the ema in your chosen tf
2. Look to shorter TF's and try and see if there is a sync motion in a lower TF.. is price bouncing off an ema in a lower TF?
3. Look for another pair where there is better value.

I guess you could counter trend if you believe price has hit a strong resistance. I don't really like doing that because i have lost money going against the trend. I think it is easier to do on high volatilty pairs like GBP/JPY.

Anyway, i hope Efi doesn't mind me trying to give a view even if only so he can put me right on this so i can understand myself what he would do in this sort of situation.

Good trading to you all!

231.60 WILL be broken, mark my words, hence we will have a termination of the bear trend on H1, and the start of a Bullish one.
