PREVIEW: BOJ RATE DECISION EXPECTED SOON
- No one expects the BoJ to change rates, but the vote will be key. The prior meeting's decision was to leave rates unchanged, in a 8-1 vote. If BoJ hawk Mizuno backs out this time in calling for a hike that may be a sign that BoJ rates will remain unchanged for the rest of the year

expecting g/u to see above 2.0200 today

and this g/j has fallen asleep ! - someone wake it up !

g/j is currently hugging the 200sma on 4 hr

4hr is still showing long favour--although a retrce to 232.00/30ish is possible

I reckon G/J wants to retrace...G/U wants to rally...Karmo sees a short, Aus wants to long...Markam wants stock market to collapse, Stock market wants to rally...so until everyone's on the same page... Nothing's going to happen!! This ranging is driving me nuts...I'm already half bald from tearing my hair out....

Well looking at the ecoomical datas and charts I can say I am with Markam from now on. The rate cut was huge for me and got my pips but in general it does not look quite well. The collapse may be sooner unless unusual things or a miracle happens

Today was not a miracle. It was Fed decision to rescue the financial instutions instead of the economy. Maybe they have somehing on mind maybe just saved the day but as I said it was a huge cut.... And as I follow this thread I start to adore Zoran's charts more everyday

In the past (a couple of decades ago), the CAD was at par with the USD, then the USD took off and the CAD was the weaker one. There are advantages with weak currency: e.g. i) tourist industries, foreign visitors like to spend vacation in countries where their currency get more milleage, ii) export products from countries with weak currency are cheaper, thus, more attractive to their buyers, ii) folks from countries with weak currencies would frett to go on vacation in countries with strong currency, they spend their $ at home... So, it is not the end of the world for the US, really, the US would have lots of visitors from Canada, now, that the CAD is almost at parity with the USD...and many more visitors from countries with strong currencies. That would certainly help US economy...and that of Canada too because Canada depends heavily (80%) on the US for its export products...
