This trade took a while to develop, but the wait was worth the while.

Our first 2550 H4 Trade was a blast at 60 + 200 Pips

Results so far since our first trade on Sunday:

+342, -146, +260 = 456 PIPs Gain so far.

BTW, for those scalping, as i recommended use a Stochastic Cross on H4 as confirmation before entering a M5 trade just to make things safer.

If you did that at EX. Op. on todays trade you would have shorted at 234.10 and be up about another 100 Pips now putting you in at a good 500 Pips for this week.

All in all i recommend you take major signals on H4 and catch the corrections and pullbacks on M5 once you get an Ex. Op. from the H4 trade.

As before, when taking 2550 signals on lower time frames you can get a lot of false signals.

To reduce that i've advised that trades on lower time frames be taking in conjunction with complementing H4 or H1 Ex/Op confirmation.

We have Ex.Op on H4 confirming the 2550 signal on M5 and M15; hence our long.

SLs can be under the low or the standard 2 x's or 1.5 x's the ATR.

If you missed the H4 Ex/Op on GBPJPY >> we just had a H1 2550 Short Signal.

If you want wait for the H4 Short Signal.

Your entry would have been 2.0250 and you would be up 73 Pips now (maximum range has been +96 Pips so far) - yet another good 2550 trade.

effilang, how do I calculate the ATR*2. I use a ATR system for equities for position sizing and risk. I have not been able to figure this out looking at my forex charts.

Example USD/JPY 4hr ATR 100= 0.5094.. This has me all messed up. If you could explain I'd be grateful

Depends on the time frame.

If you have an ATR of 1.5630; you can't take the first two numbers on a D1 Chart. 15 Pips wouldn't be much of a stop, nor 30.

You need to correlate it to the time frame you are using by basic logic.

Just work it and you'll get it right.

Currently on USD/JPY:

M1: 0.0300 (3 Pips)
M5: 0.0636 (6 Pips)
M5: 0.1030 (10 Pips)
M30: 0.1735 (17 Pips)
H1: 0.2488 (24 Pips)
H4: 0.4783 (47 Pips)
D1: 0.9116 (91 Pips)
W1: 2.2094 (220 Pips)
M1: 5.3782 (537 Pips)

Just apply the same principle to the other pairs.

I thought the entry criteria for a short position was the candle OPENING as well as closing below the 50 EMA as outlined in your original presentation.

On the 4H GBP/USD the last candle which has closed OPENED ABOVE the 50 EMA.



What am I missing? Please clarify.

Oh, i see what you mean now.
No we don't need a WHOLE candle wicks/shadow + full body to close below the EMA, just a close is sufficient followed by an open under the EMA, as there can be volatility gaps sometimes leading to a close under the EMA but not necessarily an open.

Make sure RSI is under 50 aswell or over for a long.

I'm off to bed, i've had enough pips for today lol

I just want to make sure I got the rules down right. I have posted the chart below of the EURJPY:

Left Chart: 4HR
Point 1 - Stoch is pointing up
Point 2 - Candle is above the 25/50 EMA
Potential Entry: Long since RSI also above 50, but look at 5M chart
for entry

Right Chart: 5M
Point 3 - Stoch is pointing down
Point 4 - Candle is below the 25/50 EMA
Potential Entry: No entry due to Points 3 and 4, and RSI below 50

Before going Long, I should wait until for the 5M chart to show Stoch is pointing up, candle close above the 25/50 EMA, and RSI above 50, is that correct?

I recommend that you only take trades on M5 if H4 has Ex. Op.

Please read the rules on Ex. Op. at the beginning of this thread.

We've broken lows so we are going to manualy trail our SL to the recent High at ~0.2230
