My broker is now offering subaccounts. I was wondering should I open one. The traders who do use them I was wondering what are the advantages or disadvantages of having one.

I use it for carry trades. I am usually LONG on gbp/jpy but there are time when it's clearly a SHORT trade and I use that to go short on my sub account. Basically for hedging and also, to start fresh with zero record when starting a new system for trading to see how it is.

Nitman wouldn't being long and short the same pair cancel each other out?

Depends on your strategy. Your medium to longterm strategy might be long overall, but if you want to short the pair in the near term for intra-day trading, then it doesn't necessarily cancel out the other. Just gives you the flexibility to take two sides over different time frames.

If u believe that euro, chf, yen will perfom better then usd in long term,...then its better to have more in choosen curency...and you dont pay for interests like u would if u would lets say hedge your account with a long eur/usd...for 10keur/usd .....
its just money
