Thank you for that ...I just have one last ?? How does the 5sma help you it seems only to point on the direction of the candle stick??im tryin to just see how does it click with yalls trade??sorry ..They state long to daily 5sma but my sma is nowhere near what you guys say mine is at232.05 pointing down??ON VT trader where will i click to get that setup right??

errmm..Aus...will the 5 SMA on the daily always superceeds the weekly or monthly? coz on ibfx the weekly 5 SMA is at 230.51, lower than the daily 5 SMA of 230.78. your thoughts please. thanks.

The 5sma is just a reference point for where price is most likely to retrace to on a certain timeframe.. Your 5sma on daily sounds about right and is about what mine shows, but note that the 5sma is a moving indicator, so it will change as time goes by.. The longer it takes to reach it, the lower the 5sma will be..

Not always... very rarely . Usually this happens @ start of a trend reversal.

I think it all depends on which timeframe is showing the retrace signs.. Aus uses the momentum indicator to help determine which timeframe is due for a retrace.. You also have to look and see which timeframes haven't retraced in awhile, since they are most likely to be due for one..

You can determine the retracements only from the momentum indicator. It doesnt show a 5 SMA retracemnt on the current 1hr bar.

The nikkei seems to have topped out in its retracement. I don't think we will be rising long after the top of the hour.

The 5sma is probably the best thing I learned on this thread.
The "5" acts as equlibrium, sooner or later price wants to return to the 5.

I don't use 5sma, I use 5 ema. On my daily, I hvae the 5 at 23127, the 5sma will be just a bit higher.

You better get on it. The nikkei is down about 40 points from its high and it looks we have touched the sma on the new 4-hour bar. I am already short.

I don't know, Aus. I know you said a confirmed close above the TFT on the 1H would probably drive price up to the Daily 5SMA (around 231), but I wonder how much the opening gap affected the TFT? My MT4 platform showed a 70 pip opening gap. That's gonna affect all indicators to some degree. My point is, if there had been no gap and price moved as it has so far today, would the 1H have crossed up and would there have been a close above the TFT already? I see now why some experienced traders never trade on Sundays. It can take a while for the indicators to smoothe out and get caught up.
