I am using different trading platforms with several different charts. If my broker was stop hunting wouldn't I see the difference between the different charts? I'm still not clear on the whole concept.

Stop hunting is a strategy that attempts to force some market participants out of their positions by driving the price of an asset to a level where many individuals have chosen to set their stop-loss orders.

There's no way you can find the actual volume on the market. Forex is unregulated . There is no centralized body to determine the true volume. Forex is always relying on the Futures and options volumes which comes out every week .

Stop hunting is a real trade, or a set of trades. Therefore it would cover all charts. If I understand things correctly.

So with the BOE statement this morning, if they raise rates unexpectedly then this will rocket up and if they hold them steady we go down?

No kidding? Then our volume indicators don't really show the amount of currency trading going on at that time. I'll be darned . . . another misconception exposed. Another illusion goes "poof".

Now that makes sense thats why the market moves to big whole numbers, most people are placing orders and stops there. I am thinking that if my broker were stop hunting it would be obvious to me because I am using different trading platforms.

Well, the volume indicator shows the trade volume for your broker. If the broker is a market maker, then it is the volume for internal trades within the market maker's system, although the net of those trades would be hitting the ECN as well. (assuming it's not a bucket shop).Even then, the volume indicator would be useful only as a relative indicator, i.e. to show the volume between different time-frames as opposed to an absolute stand-alone indicator by itself.

I' dont believe in stop hunts. When ever the price jumps on the opposite direction my momentum indicators shows that in advance. This recent spike was upto daily 5 sma. On a ranging market price can retrace to Daily 5 sma 3-5 times .
How about the 40-50% traders who got long orders?? they see this sudden rise as a normal rise. For traders who are short it's a stop hunt. Nice theory.
