Blue's Clues to Trading: Timing Levels and Behaviour of Price

This sort of sums up where I am at when it comes to my upcoming YouTube foray,,,,,
And this thread for that matter.

Gold Levels at play.

Levels mapped out days in advance..These levels are set in stone on Friday they dont move.
They are levels where the most transactions happened and they carry footprints...simple as that.

Are we balanced or Imbalanced ?

ROUND NUMBERS 00-25-50-75-00 nothing new but one needs to understand that the market is
predominantly institutional. OTFs,,,, they dont diddle around with buying and selling at random levels.

They build positions and those positions are typically around one of those numbers. and we gravitate
to these numbers over and over... Auctioning back and forth to the most accepted prices and always
searching for new value and acceptance .

Whether trading XAU/USD or GC futures the map is the same...

Operating from the Edges of Value can give asymmetrical R:R.. As Stacey Burke says Dont Diddle in the Middle.

All Blue circles were set at CLose of Friday...Some good more advanced setups in the middle... But what if you
were actually patient enough to trade the edges of Value ???

All will be covered over time on my Youtube....Really not tech savvy at all lol....I have to have my son do spreadsheets for me etc.
Im a basic pencil and paper type of guy...Charts black and White and indicators to a minimum and preferably toggled off most of the time
until price is in an Are of Interest ...

Simply a Weekly Volume Profile levels get carried fwd into new week....(As do VWAP)

First things first... Basic concepts to build your foundation on.
Price is only ever in two conditions... Ranging or Trending and we know that mostly
price is ranging... In AMT we call that Balanced or Imbalanced.

Where most traders fail at the charts is simply this. They dont understand the market condition
that they are trading in. They are looking for a Breakout on a ranging Balanced market.
Or they are looking to mean revert a market that is Imbalanced and in price discovery and they get bulldozed.

So its important to learn how to read the markets current condition and understand that the market will
generally persist in its current path until it proves otherwise.

Price is always in a Box... That box can be price as illustrated here with Gold.
Or the box can be the PDH PDL...It can be between PWC and PDC..then it can be between
VP VAH VAL or VWAPs 1SD’s... All have their uses.

Now when you look at those charts in my previous post...Do you see where price moves from
One level to another... Now important to understand that a simple move outside of a Zone or an area
or a level does not mean that new area is valid... We need acceptance.

Acceptance is time outside of “x” and distance.

Now the term “diddle in the middle” has become popular of late...Stacey Burke hammers home daily
dont diddle in the middle...and I see it on other trading social media..and its very valid.

As their is generally much less edge in the middle...Think Balance and ranging markets. Taking positions in the middle without very well laid out setups is just asking to get whipped out of your
position...

Trade from the edges where you can really define risk..I like to say trade from the edge of value..
Some will see me take trades that appear in the middle,,But Value is constantly shifting and thus so is the edge of value...

So with this Gold chart(s)....Once price has accepted lower we know the market is either
A) Balanced or B) Imbalanced...and that markets tend to stay in A 80% of the time..The trick is
how do you define the edge of value ? Simple candlesticks ? Works for some... I like to use
2 tools VWAP and Volume Profile.

I choose those as Institutions use these tools... Institutional traders performance are gauged( one way) on how well they execute to VWAP... Its a professional benchmark... I wont go into the details about it and VP as Google will do a better job.. But I can explain how to use it (as I see it).

So now with this Gold chart. Once we have determined the “Market Context” we know which setups we are looking for. Real simple balanced markets we look to Fade the edges of value either back to the mean or other side of value..Or other levels such as OHLC.

And of course their are multiple types of VWAPs to use....and my long winded way of getting back to the gold chart is this.... Once we have determined the market context by acceptance..Then what do I do
I anchor a VWAP to the beginning of that new Acceptance and A VP...

If you have followed all of this I applaud you... All will be laid out in upcoming videos...Its been delayed as I recently moved and ongoing health issues yada yada yada... But they are coming


So now with this Gold chart you can see the Edges of Value in the new accepted area and then with a Weekly VWAP within the larger Value Area.

And of course their are other edges that come in the form of Price 00-25-50-75-00s and with Timings
10 am is a good one...2pm is another... Both 4hr rotations

Anyways just some Saturday morning thoughts That I know just raises more questions....

Key points are price is either Balanced or Imbalanced.. Price is Always in a Box and Trade the Edges of Value and not the middle where there is typically less edge present.

There was a question on Stacey Burkes Youtube "posts" page a fellow asking about ROund numbers on
Oil the Indices etc....

I gave a reply and will copy and paste it here..as it somewhat pertains to my above post and how
price is always in a box...

Heres my reply...
Just my 2cents...So will take a stab at this as I see it Traded Oil heavily the last 5 years and I can tell you that Institutions use the .50c and $1.00 levels as primarily where Open Interest for the Commercials pool...
The most common strike price is the .50 and $1.00 levels.. Keep in mind price is always in a box..and that box can be a $10 box etc...
Thats where the observation of or the Behaviour of price comes in...

But to watch where the moves generate will be "around" the normal 00-25-50-75-00 levels...Oil tends tho to run on the .20s and .80s ,,Where Iceberg orders and algo absorption happen.... Dont mean to sound to technical lol... But its important to know that Commercial pricing in Oil does not use quarters it uses .10s ..thats how their contracts are priced.

I can only speak for ES as thats all I really trade for indices...sometimes NQ but ES I am dialed into. It operates ,,,again just my experience and views It operates on Centuries, Qaurters and Decades... Centuries 6000 6500 6600 6700 etc Quarters 6725 6750 6775 etc ..BUT the 50s are the strongest levels generally of the quarters ...And decades are where you find alot of algo activity and market makers using that "round number" 6710 6720 6730 etc...

Again price is always in a box and the bigger picture can be 6500-7000 for ex...Observation of the price and how it is behaving..But Centuries and halves are the movers and shakers on ES,, IMHO

And really if the shoe fits...If what "you" see works...fly with that... Most importantly is making the picture make sense to you ...

And here is a chart of Oil with the 50s and 100s marked off...The most popular strike prices are usually 100s but 50s sometimes as well .
What else are they priced in ? rather than 50s and 100s lol...
