What is 41.4% retracement???

Some people/brokers use 41.4% retracement. What the hell is this? This is so close to .500 and .386 even on daily charts. What is your setup for retracements? I was using 500 618 and 764 and mirrors but recently add 854 (for grater precision) and 1.236 (don't know what for, doesn't work for me ).

I use 23.6 38.2 50 61.8 78.6 and 100 on a chart with no sunday candles

I wonder if it's related to the 1.414 ratio. Where have you seen it?

Try google, some brokers and professional AT guys use it but none explains it. Just got curious and askin here and there. AFAIK it's not very popular and only described in only very expensive books...

JR97 is correct. The 41.4% retracement is a harmonic ratio of the sqrt2.

It's supressed technology. lol j/k

like phase said, 1.414 is the sqrt of 2. I spent a pretty penny myself to find that out. oh.. and then i saw the sqrt symbol on my calculator and felt ripped off. but seriously, it's a good ratio. I love squares and square roots and recipricols. I can't spell it, but I like it.

Fx is very entertaining itself Add to it all those fancy indicators and crazy ideas and you have the best reality show ever...

As to this 41.4 can't really tell if it works, looks like it works... sometimes... like any other indicator. It's in my fibo now but more of curiosity than real usage. I like to KISS.
