Hi everyone,

I am using the latest version of Renko Chart Live v5, and I’ve noticed something strange.
The screenshot that was shared here looks different from what I see during live market trading.

During the live session, the Renko candles look different and sometimes inconsistent. However, when I refresh the chart at the end of the day, the Renko chart rebuilds and looks like a clean, perfect Renko chart.
Even though I am using:
150 box size for Nasdaq
10 box size for Forex
The live chart still appears different until I manually refresh it.
My questions:
1-Why does the Renko chart look different before and after refresh?
2-Is this a repainting issue?
3-Is there a specific setting I need to adjust to prevent this

Any clarification or proper configuration advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mathematical Structure
1. Velocity Engine (MACD‑like core)
Price is processed through a recursive velocity model:
vi=vi+1+K⋅(pi−pi+1)
vali=vali+1+K⋅S⋅(pi−pi+1)+vi
Where:

  1. K = velocity gain
  2. S = sharpness factor
  3. pi = price at brick i

This produces a smooth MACD‑like line without EMAs.
2. Hybrid Momentum
Momentum combines three components:
Mi=0.4⋅viB+0.4⋅vi−vi+1B+0.2⋅vi−2vi+1+vi+2B
Where B = Renko brick size.
This captures:

  1. trend direction
  2. speed
  3. acceleration

3. Price Action Strength (PA)
Directional consistency over the last N bricks:
PAi=100⋅∑j=0N−1αj⋅dir(i+j)∑j=0N−1αj
Where:

  1. α = exponential decay
  2. dir(i)=+1,−1,0

4. Final Trend Strength (TS)
Momentum and PA are blended:
TSi=0.5⋅Mi+0.5⋅PAi
Then smoothed with a per‑bar EMA:
TSismooth=TSi+1smooth+β⋅(TSi−TSi+1smooth)
Dynamic Threshold (Advanced Version)
To filter weak signals, TS is compared to a dynamic threshold based on:
Trend Age
Age=number of consecutive bricks in TS direction
Brick Coherence
Coherence=number of recent bricks matching TS direction
Final Threshold
soglia=AAge⋅(1+Coherence)
Only TS values above this threshold are plotted.
This removes:

  1. weak reversals
  2. noise
  3. lateral movement
  4. early fake signals

And highlights:

  1. strong trends
  2. confirmed reversals
  3. clean directional moves

Visual Output

  1. Green histogram → bullish trend strength
  2. Red histogram → bearish trend strength
  3. Flat zero line → neutral zone
  4. Dynamic filtering → only meaningful trends appear

I like renko for forex. The forex market, by nature is unpredictable. Every tick is a 50/50 chance of up or down. So, for me, each bar define the near past trend. At that point I can go with that past trend, or trade counter trend. The market does not respect any indicator. all print from past data. the same than renko, but the brick is more precise in a number. Try it in a demo. Set renko size, say 21 pips, trigger every time in favor of the last bar. set a TP of 22 pips for each trade, buy and sells. close at some global TP. No individual SL nor global. You are following the market.

I don't know, but using a Super Trend on a Renko chart means not understanding what a Renko chart is. The Super Trend is an indicator based on the ATR, and by definition, Renko doesn't have an ATR since all bricks are the same size

I've tried several versions renko, and candle wicks still appear during reversals. Must refresh it

I’m also interested in Renko workflows on MT5, especially for XAUUSD.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the brick size matters more than the indicator itself. A setup can look clean on one brick size and become noisy or late on another. For gold, I usually think it helps to compare at least two views: a smaller brick size for short-term movement and a larger one for structure.
I don’t treat Renko as a signal by itself. For me it is more useful as a way to simplify structure, then check momentum quality, support/resistance reaction, and whether the move is still clean or starting to fade.
Curious how others here choose brick size for gold.
