Review sites usually flag brokers when there are concerns around regulation or user complaints. It doesn’t always mean they’re 100% right, but it’s worth paying attention.

Most brokers don’t openly allow arbitrage, especially latency arbitrage. You’ll usually need an ECN/NDD broker and still verify their terms carefully.

Exactly. Even with STP/ECN, there’s always a liquidity provider behind the scenes, so pure arbitrage can still be seen as a threat to their pricing model.

From what I’ve seen, Quantower works but not with all Tradeify setups. If you’re on Tradovate, it might not be fully compatible yet.

You’ll probably need to reconstruct it yourself. Most retail forex datasets only go back to the late 1990s because the Euro was introduced in 1999. Pre-1999 “EUR/USD” history is usually synthetic — built from weighted legacy currencies like the German Mark, French Franc, Italian Lira, etc. ([Forex Factory][1])

A good approach is:

* Get historical data for:

* DEM/USD
* FRF/USD
* ITL/USD
* ESP/USD
* NLG/USD
* BEF/USD
* and other euro-area currencies
* Recreate a synthetic EUR using the official euro conversion weights/fixed rates.

Some useful sources:

* [Finaeon historical FX database](https://finaeon.com/product/exchange-rates/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) — claims monthly FX data back to the 1500s and daily data from the 1920s. ([finaeon.com][2])
* [forex-centuries GitHub project](https://github.com/unbalancedparentheses/forex-centuries?utm_source=chatgpt.com) — huge open-source long-run financial dataset. ([GitHub][3])
* Central bank archives and IMF historical statistics can also help for pre-WW2 data.

Just keep in mind: before the 1970s, exchange rates were often fixed under gold-standard/Bretton Woods systems, so “forex behavior” was very different from modern floating markets. ([ig.com][4])

Interesting strategy, Kaisar. The logic is mostly clear, but I’d need a few details before coding and backtesting it properly:

1. After 3 bullish weekly candles:

* Do we place a Buy Stop above the previous candle’s high?
* Or buy at market after breakout?

2. After 3 bearish weekly candles:

* Do we place a Sell Stop below the previous candle’s low?

3. Does the setup cancel if price doesn’t trigger within one week?

4. Can multiple trades run simultaneously, or only one active trade at a time?

5. Is the 3% target fixed from entry price and SL fixed at 0.5% from entry?

Once these are confirmed, the EA and backtest can be implemented quite easily.

That’s a fair way to look at it.

FTMO basically turns risk management into a **hard boundary (max drawdown = absolute stop-loss)**, so you already know your worst-case loss upfront. That structure naturally forces discipline, because breaking rules just ends the account.

With a regulated broker like Darwinex, you’re trading your own capital, so:

* You have full control
* But also full exposure to losses beyond any “challenge limit”

So it comes down to style:
