Shotgun Trading...
Perfect for small accounts...

Start Date: April 3, 2026
Starting Balance = Starting Equity = 651.17
Floating P/L = 0
Limited to three Pairs for now: GBP/USD, EUR/USD, USD/CHF
The correlation adds a layer of randomness...

Fast forward to April, 07...
19:45 Eastern...

-A very decent upward move at the beginning of the Asian session for GBP/USD and EUR/USD...
-No need to know what the event was...
-Happened to be at the computer...
-Account (temporarily) doubled in less than an hour...

I thought the shot gun was used on a “spread” sheet at varying distances designated by randomness to add correlation. The tighter the grouping of shot, the more risk one placed on a particular trade ( risk management )

Let us look at the trading range Google-Earth style...
From the original thread "Soldiers Of Fortune":

My favorite Pair to trade and scalp is the GBP/USD so I will use it to illustrate my idea of a range and its implications.
Please keep in mind that all Instruments are traded exactly the same way in the companion account.

The first view of the trading range/battleground will be what we might call a global view.
It spans the whole globe and both extremities, North and South, can be clearly seen.

For the Pair, it is the 10,000-pip area from 1.0000 to 2.0000.
Note that the price has reached 2.14 back in the early 2000's and nothing is to be considered impossible, so our range can be shifted or extended as needed.
North America must have seen a lot of British tourists back then...

The second view is Regional.
We zoom-in close enough to have a "Continental" perspective with a few countries showing.

The third and last view is a "close up" view that shows only a few kilometers/miles.

For chart lovers:

View One is the Yearly/Monthly candle.
View Two is the Weekly/Daily candle.
View Three is the 1-hour candle and lower (for precision entry and scalping).


Rules of Engagement:

Rule One
No Soldier can enter the Battlefield before being fully financed.
We do not use leverage and only trade what we can afford.
A Soldier has two (02) costs:
The first one is what an accountant will call Cost Of Goods which is the drawdown a Soldier can create, a capped value in our strategy.
The second cost is the cost to hold the position itself.

Very important note:
One has to be very careful with this last part because there is no standard policy common to all brokers. Some do not withhold margin for fully hedged positions but most of the brokers I know do withhold an important amount for each side of the hedge.

We always focus on what we can control.
What we do is minimize the impact of an unpredictable event if harmful, and maximize it if beneficial...
The gains should be given a chance to grow exponentially while making "the losses" predictable and linear.

And that's the essence of "adding to a winner."
A very counterintuitive concept, indeed.

Rule Two
No Rebalancing or Restructuring before at least three (03) Units are Active.

A Unit is deemed Active when at least one of its Soldiers is in play/battle following a very straightforward Entry Process.
Every Unit can have up to 10 Soldiers divided into 03 Groups.

Soldier 01 is always from Group 1, the Participation Group.

He is that frontline Foot Soldier whose mission is the gathering of information for his superiors / Very high rate of death.
No satellites here, we are talking Napoleon style.

Soldiers live and die within the confinement of their respective Units.
-I do not see "risk"...
-I see "cost" and possible outcomes...

-No significant event two hours into the NY session...
-Buyers and Sellers staring at each other...
-Price ranging in a very narrow window...
-Not worth "scalping" for tactical entries...
-Wait and see for one more hour while keeping busy with something else (alerts set on MT4).

The Grid...

A) Layer 1: Division
Identifier (in Comment Column): @@@@@
Size = 1000p
1.2750 < @@@@@-GBP < 1.3750

B) Layer 2: Company
Identifier: HHHHH
Size: 500p
1.3250 < HHHHH < 1.3750

C) Layer 3: Combat units
Identifier: Unit's number
Size: 50/100p (depending on volatility, default being 50p.)
Current Active Unit: U34
1.3375 < 34 < 1.3425

Upper boundary: 1.3425
Pivot Line: 1.3400
Lower boundary: 1.3375

As a hard rule, a Combat Soldier lives and dies within the two boundaries of his respective Unit.
Same rule applies to Companies and Divisions. Only the scale is different...
That's the one and only rule that matters in terms of sustainability, the rest is pure "engineering"...

Combat Units: Short term...
Company: Long term...
Division: High Command...

To Tokken,
-Hope that answers part or most of your question...
-The grid is built just like the three different views in the Google-Earth analogy...
-Entry becomes irrelevant (or, at least, not the most important part of the "campaign")...
-Thanks to the Comment Column, the above becomes (quite literally) a dynamic spreadsheet that can be sorted as needed...

The trader's Shakespearian dilemma:
To close or not to close, that is the question...
The equity in the account has more than doubled in less than 10 days.
Possible actions/reactions:
1. Let the "thing" run, 1.3500 being the next "milestone"...
2. Take a partial profit and wait, like most "experts" would suggest...
3. "Can't lose it if you bank it" will be the general consensus...

Sticking to option 1 for now...

- I deleted the previous reply because, I believe, it had some information that could be misleading to some...
- The first 20/30 posts of Building an Equity Millipede are really worth a read (reread...)

- I truly believe that any sensible trading strategy "works" and that it's all in position sizing...
- One has to be a good accountant before being a good trader and not the other way around...

- Pipeasy was already wealthy before he started trading...
- The originality of his thread was not in the strategy itself but in tying trading to his Import/Export businesses...
- In strict trading terms, he was one of many: a position trader who cuts his losses short and lets his winners run...
- He says it himself very clearly and gets frustrated when his followers ask him for "the strategy". He insists that the secret is not in the strategy/entry itself but in the overall approach: applying the business rules to trading before anything else...
