For the record of transparency and people not familiar with this thread/elasticity. I've been trading profitably elasticity and even passed a prop firm challenge with the concepts from this thread but not everything is perfect and there's no holy grail in trading, stick this to your brain. Currently I'm trading live.

Today I suffered two losses in a row of textbook elasticity set ups. Nothing dramatic since I account for these scenarios in my management, just not fun. Consider that I don't use BE and have wide stop losses and late entries so pretty "safe". Orange: 15m stoch, green 30m, blue 1h, purple 4h.

Trade 1:

  1. 15m - [4h climbing slope] elasticity.
  2. 15m wick as support
  3. price action bullish: HH HL, from 4h to 15m, so expecting a new HH or at least 15m stoch to reach overbought to close position

Trade 2:

  1. [15m, 30m]- [4h climbing slope] elasticity.
  2. 15m wick as support
  3. 15m stoch classic divergence
  4. price action bullish: 15m we can consider not new LL and still respecting support

I’m not as talented as some of the guys in here, but I do have experience being profitable in just basic price action, so I’ll give my 50 cents. Trade 1 was a nice break and retest pattern, my opinion the elasticity was suitable , maybe not quite A*, but still suitable, consider it a routine charge. If your stop was below the M15 lows you would have been in some profits and it did reach a resistance zone, you might have just targeted too high. Trade 2 all stochs were below the 50 line, and a strong bear candle coming off resistance, indicating bearish momentum. I’d have personally avoided but every trader sees it different. You’ll eat up plenty of losses not going breakeven but you can make it work. 1:1 risk:reward you only need to win 50% to not lose, which isn’t all that hard. Losses will come, sometimes the trades perfectly fine, sometimes you can learn from it and move on. All apart of the game my friend

Maybe I should have interpreted that strong reaction to fail a new HH as a bearish momentum like you say, I don't know. My exit is riding 15m stoch so yes I eat that loss because didn't make it to OB. Good to see it through your eyes. Here I'm to keep trying

Trading pivots, I shoot for 20-30 pips depending on the volatility on gold then go breakeven, but that is irrelevant to you. When I traded prop firms intraday like yourself, I shot for 2RR, but at 1R in profit I took 33%, then another 33% at 1.5R and the rest at 2R. At 1R I went breakeven and I atleast secured 33%. That approached actually allowed me to trade profitably on the prop firms. If it sounds good give it a go. I do recommend taking a little profit when you go breakeven, because it’ll prevent you chasing the next move

Also about riding the stoch into overbought, you’ll catch some home runs doing this and I’m sure the losers will balance out because you wins would be bigger. But I believe GHBDRs method, was take profit at either the completion of elasticity or the nearest support/resistance level. Not to say you can’t add your own twists just something to consider. You’re still doing great though pal, trial and error is the best way

Sure riding the stoch, when it works, it yields nice when it doesn't quite frustrating. Have to study more what will suite me best. Anyway a "big" loss was just yesterday, I was doing very fine until then.

sure does yield nice, if you can handle a loss you will be just fine, if you aren’t able to handle a loss and try chase a loser back then playing it safe is better. It’s all personal preference, I for one hate losing so I just protect trades that are green for my own sanity

Interesting. I personally find it easier to eat more losses and have bigger rewards profits so I can use lower leverage. Different sides of same coin in long run, if played well I think

I think Stochs indicate momentum shift to resume bull movement. If 15m stoch drops <50% and others keep clilbing I will evaluate long. Will be very strict of how price playa out. hope not to get cut
