Great overview of how the prop firm space has evolved over the years. It’s been a wild ride from the early FTMO days to the MFF collapse. Hopefully this thread helps traders find the few reliable options that are still out there.

I’ve used Exness before and their spreads on majors are definitely competitive, especially on Raw or Zero accounts. Execution is usually fast and spreads on pairs like EUR/USD can go close to 0.0 pips during liquid sessions.

good place to start is understanding how prop firm challenges work, including profit targets, drawdown rules, and payout structures. Once you know the rules, it becomes easier to decide if a firm is suitable for you.

Agreed. Most traders focus too much on entries and ignore risk management, which is what really determines long-term success.

a system really works consistently, it usually comes with proper risk management behind it. Without that, no system lasts long.

This is actually solid advice. Position sizing and risk control are way more important than finding the perfect setup.

This is a common misunderstanding. Most prop firms calculate max daily loss based on equity at any moment, not just the end of the day, so even temporary drawdowns can trigger a breach.

Yeah, a lot of it comes down to how their system is set up. Some firms clearly define it, but others make it confusing, which doesn’t help traders at all.

That’s why many traders keep extra buffer and avoid getting too close to the limit. Even if a trade recovers, the system tracks the lowest equity reached during the day.

like the focus on first-hand experiences instead of reviews and affiliates. That’s probably the only way to separate the few legit firms from the noise now.

That’s a solid breakout idea. You’re basically looking for a 20-bar high/low close alert, which is pretty straightforward to code in MQL4.

That’s a great way to learn. Building real tools from ideas will definitely improve your MQL4 skills much faster than just theory.
