The trade hit the stop loss — but here's the painful part. After stopping me out, price did exactly what I predicted and dropped sharply, which would have hit TP1 comfortably if the trade had survived. This is the most frustrating scenario in trading — being right about the direction but wrong about the SL placement.
Looking back at the M15 chart, the mistake is clear. The middle band (moving average) on the higher timeframe was acting as dynamic resistance, and a smarter SL placed just above that moving average would have been tighter, cleaner, and would have kept me in the trade for the full move down.
As David Paul always teaches, patience and structure are everything. His words ring especially true today: "I put my orders where the massives put their stops" — that spike into the upper band was a textbook stop hunt by the big players before the real sell-off. I saw it, I called the direction, but my SL wasn't protected properly.
Execution on PTB was smooth — instant fills, no slippage, and the platform performed well during weekend conditions. The analysis was right. The direction was right. The lesson today is purely about SL placement and timeframe alignment — always structure your stop on the higher timeframe before executing on the lower one.
Right direction. Wrong SL. Full lesson noted. On to the next one.
DislikedHi everyone, anyone trading with any prop firms. I have been testing 5ers but spread seems to be high and the price can be widely varied from other brokers or tradingview. I just had a trade open in NZDUSD and the price dropped upto 0.7198 whereas trading view 0.7140+. Moreover, it didn't trigger my stop loss which I set it at 0.7263. I'm sort of newbie and just want to discuss further. Thank you.Ignored
